How does that make any sense? It was 30 cents (at launch)... did you expect it to be in HD with online multiplayer and extra levels? I think getting a game of this quality for .30 is enough for a 8.5+/10.
I love how quickly people jump to conclusions and make absurd assumptions. Like this could be Sony making a guess off this years failures, since PS Plus, Cross Buy, Declassified and several other things weren't enough to get massive sales. Furthermore, this sentence "Gamers have been curious if this would be the case with the Vita, as the lack of games produced for the system have been either ports or HD remastered titles" makes me believe this person isn't that informed. If...
I don't think it would make a difference.
People quickly learned that some people don't redeem online passes, so they can be obtained via second hand with the game. It was also not a concept that every company took to, nor did it make a real difference in sales. Also we saw GameStop give online passes with preowned purchases (my friend at GS told me used copies of SS come with a online pass), so it really became a moot point over time.
I think removin...
One of the problems with the genres we have, is that not everything falls under a certain category and sometimes games are classified as something weird. Like Ratchet and Clank is a platformer, though I see it as a action adventure, which makes more sense (to me anyway).
Anyway, Metroid prime is in first person and uses a gun to do almost everything. Even if it's classified as a first person action adventure, you can pretty much consider it a FPS game.
Some people really enjoyed Metroid Prime, so I can see people disagreeing with FPS, though I agree they haven't mastered everything.
So your example is a game made by Platinum Games and published by Sega... makes sense...
Anyway, some games have mature themes and others are kind of dirty (like Captain Rainbow)... these titles typically don't come over to the US, but they DO exist.
In the end, is it possible to actually "master" a genre? Every game offers different experiences and those experiences may or may not be better for a genre. Like difficulty works for Spelunker, wh...
@ Imalwaysright
I was saying Demon Souls sold because it was hard, though I do suspect that played a large role in why Dark was successful too. Xbox people probably constantly heard of this insanely difficult game and wanted to experience it.
How the **** is the Souls series a good example?
You're talking about a game that pretty much fell *** backwards into word of mouth marketing and was ONLY successful because so many people talked about how hard it was. Furthermore, what did Dark Souls do to appeal to a larger market? It was just released on the Xbox and had slightly more open worlds, but the formula was largely unchanged. So the Soul's success was most likely a fluke, which can't and shouldn'...
I've read FAR more Dead Space 3 hate than love and even more EA hate than love, so I have no clue what you're getting at. Sure some people take EA's side, people ARE allowed to have an opinion, but don't act like DigitallyDownloaded is some sort of superior site for speaking ill of this game like so many others. In fact, I've seen more support for DS 3 from users on N4G than journalists...
Nope.
They said the EXACT same thing about Biohazard 5 when it appeared as a Plus game in early pics of the new store, yet it happened like a month after they said that.
I don't see why Dragon's Crown is listed, you most likely aren't going to have a system seller that is available elsewhere.
Lost Planet 2 =\
It's sad, but I don't need to read this article to know it's stupid.
The simple fact it's AAA, means that people are more likely to play it and that in turn makes it more likely for someone to dislike it. You'll probably never read a hate article about Orgarhythm or anything, because the only people buying it are the ones that are sure they would enjoy it. The other reason is that people don't waste the time to call out a small game like Neptunia, for ...
Got the platinum earlier this week, amazing game! Hopefully this guide will help some people take the leap.
Link has direct links to the store if you're too lazy to turn on your PS3.

Also I think it's a good theory that these are simply replacements for All 4 One, inFAMOUS 2 and LBP 2. Obviously it's just 1 replacement, but still a far more likely answer than purely random error.
@ Summons75
Way to miss my point completely...
Most people freely give their PSN / XBL account names out, so you can always verify something if it sounds wrong. Like if I said BioShock was a terrible game and had 1 trophy in it, I probably have no right to talk.
Additionally, it wasn't about the overall score, it was about the single game in question. Like if someone told you Vanquish was an easy game, but beat the game on normal or lowe...
@ Kalowest
It's either because they're fishing for reviews or the person didn't quite grasp the game. Admittedly, Soul Sacrifice is a fairly average and boring game if you can't figure out how to play it and don't play very far into it. Obviously if this is indeed the case, this reviewer should be tarried and feathered..
Really? I think they give creditability.
If someone has proof they beat the game, at least I know they're most likely not talking out their *** like some people love to. Usually the more achievements / trophies in a game a person has, the more knowledgable about it they're (unless it's MP related). I think this is the only "truly" good thing about them, though I still enjoy earning them.
"People want something different and the fact remains, no matter what Wolfenstein may change or add, it's still a shooter at its very core and many would skip it for that reason alone if they have genre fatigue."
Isn't that a rationally invalid statement? If you want Wolfenstein, then regardless of how you feel about the genre, you'll probably end up buying it. I don't think anyone is expecting the "original" FPS to become a RTS, Turn based...
Basically it's the concept that previously stated, shown or implied (rarely this last one) is altered in order to make something work. While most things plan with the future in mind, this is a very common occurrence in manga series and in some cases are pretty messy (see Hokuto no Ken 2 or Naruto).
With this being said, there is a lot of ways this can go, though I think undercutting the ending isn't the way to go. Not only is it bad story telling (since it diminishes...
