It would take it (roughly) 31 weeks selling 64k a week just to make up the 2 million console difference. While sales would be increasing for the 360 as well (37k per week for 31 weeks), the PS3 would be caught up in 62 weeks. A little over a 1yr isn't that long.
"the total amount of 360 units sold FAR outstrips the total PS3 units sold"
Isn't FAR a little bit of an exaggeration? To not even be 1yr old and sold a little under half the 360, that says a lot. MS kinda blew its load a little early releasing Halo 3 in September.
Funny how I'm waiting for some of the same titles. No too much longer my friend. Not too much longer.
It's funny that you think that. Really. I'm laughing at you. The Wii is $250 right now yet the PS3 is selling. And will continue to do so. Price is important, but value is more important. You don't see Hitachi or Toshiba or Sony reducing the price of their LCD TVs to complete with the Walmart special. Why is that? I'll keep saying this because it is true. The 360 will only be as successful as the Xbox 1. It's sales are almost mirrored. Tell yourself whatever you have to, but that's just how ...
Then play Tekken 5, Folklore, HS, download GT 5 Prologue, RFOM, Ninja Gaiden, Madden 08....
...similar to the PSP ad. It went over so well, I think it would really work.
@Kuest
You really need to change your avatar man. I like Al Green too much. It would just seem wrong to argue with you and hear "Let's Stay Together" in my head.
Is it because a DEMO looks better than a damn near 3rd gen 360 game? Yeah Forza 2, I'm talking to you.
How about you form a response and not copy/paste, word for word, info out of a Major Nelson article. I love how many people feel smart by doing this. At least copy from an unbiased site if you going to pose like you know something about the topic.

For as long as you milk Halo. And for the record, I'm glad Rocky whipped your ass.
via XboxKings...See what I did there?
And you have the entire 360 08 lineup
As long as Gears and the Halo 3 campaign were...
Original Xbox was only around for 4yrs there bud. So it looks like the 360 is on the same pace the Xbox 1 was.
I'm using the FACT that it was only in production for 4yrs, yet, because you see one at Walmart for $30 in 06, that's when it stopped? Sad, sad manboychild. So it selling at a high price, for comparison purposes is justifiable, but the PS3's pricing and adjustments to pricing is not. Sad, sad hypocritical manboychild.
The 360 will only be as successful as the original Xbox. And acting like it has been selling 528K consoles without Halo 3 launch, is well, retarded.
No. We've all seen the '08 lineup. '09 expect the 720. "Meh" comes to mind, but more than that, with devs becoming more familiar with the tools, Sony stepping up 3rd party support and a growing install base, it's going to take a whole helluvalot more than Fable 2, Banjoe and Alan Wake to stop the Wii and PS3.
It's not the 360 has BAD games (actually, games have nothing to do with how much value the hardware has at its current price point), but in comparison to a $400 PS3, looking at hardware, $279 Arcade, $349 Pro or better yet a $449 Elite are not as much a value as a $399 PS3. Spin it how you want, but that's the reality.
How fast did MS release games when the 360 was 11 months old?
I never said Halo 3 wasn't a system seller Kuest. I simply showed, with the data provided in the very story we are commenting on, that you'd expect more hardware moving. 500k is a killer amount of units to move, but with the amount of Halo hype, you'd almost expect more. I'm not downplaying anything. I'm just not willing to blow MS or the 360 for moving units. That's what they're supposed to do.
*side question
Weren't you the economics wiz that said the 360 was selling m...
Over 3 million copies of Halo 3 sold and 500k 360s. So yeah, "Everyone who wants Halo already has an xbox 360".
But the 360 is cheaper and has Halo 3. Should it matter?
