As a diehard halo fan, Halo 5 isn’t even the defining Halo game of this generation
Posturing like “we believe in generations”?
"all the controversy aside"
What are your thoughts on the controversy? Specifically, the cross-gen games between PS4/PS5? Do you see more cross-gen exclusives being announced to release in the 3-6 or 6-12 months or so after launch?
"PSplus collection is incredible"
Agreed, the value there is insane
I wonder what the cutoff is? In another 4 generations' time should we stop caring about the ability to play games like The Last of Us and God of War because they've become "classic"? If people want to experience them again do they need to buy a bunch of old consoles - or worse - hang on to every console they purchase?
"Same as Xbox"
Yeah exactly the same. Except for the part where they're totally different, because the Series X/S can play 360 and original Xbox games.
So... not the same at all I guess
@RgR
"Well for starters MS would have to have some exclusives for people to like them. They barely have any."
That's if you own a PC. We're talking about a crowd who's looking to buy a budget-price next-gen console. I don't think that's the same audience that own a gaming-capable PC. So to that crowd, there are plenty of games available on Xbox that aren't on PlayStation.
Lol okay
I see what you're going for, but this also ignores the fact that the approach itself (cross gen games) was ridiculed as "holding back next gen" the moment it was announced. Halo just solidified that argument when it was revealed
That's really good value, great move by Sony
Yeah I'm interested to see the rhetoric on that in the next few days - this site was screaming about the Series X being held back by doing that and there being no reason to upgrade. Apparently that wasn't exclusive to Xbox
"They forgot what a AAA game is completely. Just gamepass filler and indies to justify subs"
I guess you missed Flight Simulator's release
"Never happen again"
Did you miss Flight Simulator's launch the other week?
@CrazyCoconuts
Do you also think the Nintendo 64 was the 64th Nintendo console?
MS is mandating it for first party devs, and also built the technology. For third party it’s up to individual devs
Yeah consoles should all look the same! Consoles have never looked like a big block like the Series S.
Especially not the GameCube, Sega32X, SegaCD, Nintendo 64DD, and... hmm wait...
Looks like there isn’t really one definition of what a console should look like, and nor should there be. Funny that
When a good looking movie comes to Netflix do you go out and buy the DVD? Or do you watch on Netflix?
Kind of. The difference with Smart Delivery is that you can use the old disc and it will automatically upgrade the version you’re playing (eg an Xbox One disc will play the Series X version of the game, as if you just inserted the Series X disc). No disc swapping or redeeming a separate downloadable copy.
For all intents and purposes, it’s pretty similar to what Sony’s doing, but this is taken from the article:
“This means that you'll get an entirely ...
It won’t be in the single player. The multiplayer is a stand-alone release coming post-launch, in which there will be microtransactions.
Agreed we should be wary, but the headline is factually incorrect.
The ‘last time’ they promised updates for years was in Halo 5, which they actually delivered on time every/most months for a good few years
So now it’s good for the consumer? I thought you :
“want developers to use the full extent of the capacity of the next gen consoles, and not be held back by the lowest common denominator”
You also referred to Xbox’s approach of developing simultaneous current/next gen versions as “splitting resources”.
That’s an interesting shift in perspective, when the only variable that’s changed since then is the company you’re commenting on.
