Priceless = Seinfan saying the fanboys here are ridiculous when all he's talked about is the 360 controller, downplayed the one disc BluRay method, XBox Splinter Cell > PS2 (like that even matters when it's an HD remaster), not "giving two shits" about the Sly Collection. You haven't even said one thing about Splinter Cell lol!
More trolls
@midnighter20c
Umm, that's how they get paid. Jesus. I'm sure even developers have families and bills to pay. You can't earn a living by taking a year off. A studio without projects isn't much of a studio.
Don't make excuses Tachyon. He had the option to participate but chose not to. There's a difference.
Go to Gametrailers.com and watch their recent multiplayer kills video http://www.gametrailers.com... . You can CLEARLY see other reviewers like G4TV and Jim Sterling (Destructoid) running around. No excuse.
Why is he comparing it to BioShock? BioShock isn't an FPS in the truest sense. It's more an adventure with explorable maps that just happens to have a first person camera. It even has backtracking and an rpg skills/items/weapons infrastructure.
Simply having a first person camera doesn't make you a first person shooter as we've come to know them (COD, Battlefield, Resistance, Halo, Medal of Honor). Fallout, Oblivion, even driving games have first person vie...
Duplicate, I posted this a week ago http://n4g.com/news/690513/... :p
Horrible review but typical for Scott Jones. He's a pretentious, sensationalist troll and has been stinking up Reviews on the Run, Crispy Gamer and now the AV Club for years. He hates all things Sony and apparently great multiplats too.
Btw, this translates to a 58 on metacriti...
lol, I've done that too! Freakin' Maneaters. Thank goodness a couple levels had shortcuts so you could run back a bit quicker.
Why? Look a couple spots below you (@ Loner's response). That's why.
It brings out the ambulance chasers that spend the next month dropping in and out of every similar thread waving the "PS3 sucks" flag.
Good scores don't get the hits or stickies. Everyone flocks to the bad ones and that's what gets stickied on page 1, goes 1000 degrees and becomes the new mantra. Notice that Jim Sterling's 10/10 is already forgotten. Is it l...
And Crackdown 2 all but killed the franchise. Oh well.
Things is, places like IGN and Gamespot, even SixthAxis at least go up and down. Even Eurogamer and Official Playstation Magazine fluctuate and while they too can be wrong sometimes (various OPM's gave PS3 exclusives Yakuza 3 and Demon's Souls some of their lowest meta' ratings), they're not pretentious 75% of the time.
Edge is awkward reading and it's been that way for years. That...
It's 87 on meta' (and that will change) because there are few reviews in and although most are high, there are two reviews that are 70/100. Keep in mind, keep in VERY good mind that Killzone 2 had FOUR scores of 70 AND one at 60...yet still managed a 91 average.
Also keep in mind that Halo Reach had FOUR 70's, one 67 and even one 50. A 50. Yet it too had an average of 91.
Lets not jump to doom conclusions just because two sites picked up an FP...
@LMS
It's an online map. No game has a 100% universally loved map rotation. Black Ops has like 3 or 4 winter maps and I don't like any of them. Play Warzone or Operations and it opens up the field in the middle.
If you're worried about single player don't be. Check out this new montage from Gametrailers http://www.gametrailers.com...
Brutal melees are a little gimmicky? Yeah because it's so much more realistic when enemies can survive half a clip yet die instantly from a glancing knife slash to the knees. Or better yet, perk up in COD and melee him from 6 feet away. /s
Brutal melees are awesome because you actually kill the guy for once, definitively. You need to be up close. There's a definate risk/reward. Far less gimmicky than releasing the hounds a la Mr. Burns in Black Ops.
They gave 007 Bloodstone a higher score? Yeah, they're drunk. Arguably the worst 007 online ever. Everything or Nothing is still better. Joystiq...that's a paddlin'.
Killzone 2 had a couple 70's and still had an average of 91 in the end.
Halo Reach had the same 91 avg but also had four 70's, a 67 and a 50. Just saying too.
This translates to a 58/100 on metacritic. I'm not even kidding, it just posted on the PS3 side. Over 30 points BELOW the critical average and 22 to the next closest score. :(
Scott Jones has a reputation on Reviews on the Run, a review show in Canada on G4, as being a crusty curmudgeon even stating he only uses his PS3 to watch BluRays, but a 58 on metacritic is something else. In comparison he gave Dead Rising 2 a 10/10.
I thought Dead Space 2 was great...
Sad that Europe lost Silent Hill due to probably some obscure licensing issue. It was a true PS1 classic. They should get that license.
Copy protected saves are pointless since they're not even universal. Assassin's Creed 2 was protected but Assassin's Creed Brotherhood wasn't.
Resistance 2 and RE5 used to be but fans complained and the developers to their credit un-blocked them with a patch. More developers need to follow suit as it only pisses off their loyal customers to copy protect their saves.
Hopefully cloud storage addresses this issue and is tied to the PSN ID, not ...
@Melman
I know. Never said it wasn't. It's still true, ergo it's funny they didn't mention it. They're supposed to catch this stuff, no?
This is true. Played it last night, in more than one instance the textures loaded slow, popped in by the stairs and pot a little late. I know what texture pop-in is. Been seeing it on DCUO, and yes Crysis has it too, along with tearing during 3D. Death animations in KZ2 were more dynamic as well.
@Perjoss
Well on LOT they're automatically perma-banned so...
