The problem is they went more powerful at a lower cost (than other processors) and lost in the long run.
It's more about making the software and hardware work together in harmony. Good software is stopped by bad hardware, and good hardware is stopped by bad software. I'm guessing they're putting a lot into their OS simply because of the 16GB of flash storage (rumored to be at least) for the OS.

This guy gets it. Consoles are a social thing. You invite friends over with their consoles and some pizza and have a great time.
Now try to invite your friends to your house with their PCs. Yeah, it's a pain.
That's exactly why I love my psn+ sub... if my subscription ends, I just renew it if I use it often enough. If not, I have 10 other games that I can still play with friends online.

Except that the Xbox 720 has not been denied nor the Ps4 specs. If there's ever a completely false rumor, (or one that makes them look bad) the company is quick to jump on it.
They use those in TVs and other things. It's a cost and power effective processor built for specific tasks. Cameras probably even use a tiny one.

Actually, it was hacked, and a short while after, sloten codes for ms points, xbox live and games were being used like mad. Microsoft couldn't do anything about it since they didn't know who had the stolen codes.
