This review reads more like a high 7 or 8.
Why isn't AC3 or ZombiU in this anywhere?
Halo 2 definitely has better multiplayer, but it has a totally abysmal campaign.
I don't think people are mad at the score, it's some of the ridiculous things the reviewer says in the review that has caused controversy.
For example, I quit reading what he said as soon as he said halo should have iron sights. What an idiot.
Ugh so annoyed by activision saying "oh we need a new game every 2 years" crap.
Each major Halo release had a 3 year dev cycle. Going from that to a 2 year cycle on next gen hardware where dev cycles will of course be longer/more expensive is absurd.
I was literally just about to post this.
The only complaint in this whole thing that I can sympathize with is the lack of the original Halo theme which I think is a really arrogant, poor move on Neil Davidge's part. If this was a spin off game I could understand its absence, but I think it's expected that the Halo theme actually appear in a numerical real Halo installment.
An 8 from Edge is a 9 or 10 from any typical media outlet in all fairness
I'm not worried about this. Other reviews have said it's just as long as other entries in the series, which for me takes 8-10 hours. Just because one guy grinds through the game in 6 hours without exploring or looking for terminals to make a review deadline, doesn't mean that's how long it'll be for normal players.
Yea the part where the Elite was hunting them down was so intense. My favorite part.
My only big gripe with this series is its lack of attention to detail in terms of canon. They are using the Halo 4 Elite designs. You may ask why that is such a horrible thing, but the armor the covenant uses in Halo 4 is from the Storm faction of the covenant that forms after Halo 3, and needless to say this takes place very far before that.
So G4 went from being a channel that had literally only gaming related shows to having none. I so wish that bullcrap tech tv merger never happened.
I'm just curious why so many people didn't like Reach? Only thing I can imagine is because of loadouts and reticule bloom, but it had so many great things going for it.
AAs were a great evolution of the useless equipment from 3, Forge and Firefight were both IMMENSELY improved, the return of the Pistol, return of Elites in campaign, Armor customization was a huge step above Halo 3's, new Invasion game type, no Flood, etc. Honestly, Reach is probably the most well ...
In all fairness, if there is a huge day 1 patch that would make some sense to not give developers review code ahead of time that was just going to get altered by a big patch.
The game looks good though. Maybe not GOTY or even SOTY, but still very solid. Expecting reviews in the high 7s, low-mid 8s.
You can buy the map pass separately for $25. I'll probably just cancel my LE now and buy the game and map pass separately since it's like $15 cheaper
Halo 4 obviously. The only series out of those that takes 3 year breaks between each major release to overhaul their engine, has a legitimate campaign and fleshed out story, and just watch the new multiplayer vidoc to see the innovative stuff they are doing with spartan ops.
Peter did leave a long time before the game's completion so the direction may have changed for all we know. Maybe they originally intended it to not be on rails?
Xbox needs back J Allard, Ed Fries, and all the guys who made the Xbox what it was. The group of people who cared about their first party developers, who didn't turn Rare into garbage, etc.
Dang this is bad news. He's been with Bungie for what seems like forever. Never a good thing to lose a key staff member.
So epic. Cannot wait until next friday
