ODST is largely considered an slightly extended DLC. It is, therefore, incomparable to Killzone 2 which is a full fledged game.
And the fanboys hyped Killzone 2 to outdo Halo 3, ODST wasn't around/focused on as much at that time.

Though, in my opinion, (It may be too early to call them influential), but I think LBP/Demon's Souls/Uncharted 2 will definitely be remembered and considered influential. At least I hope so.
Also, with Uncharted 2, it should deserve a honorable mention at least as it did set standards, but of course it's much too early to call it influential which is probably why it wasn't...
that's a good question fiber. But, again, you are trying to dictate and superimpose your opinion as "more correct" than others, which is why it's a bit rude to say that other people are wrong. You can in your opinion you think those games are better, but to say other people are wrong in thinking the opposite of you implies that GOTY is universally true when it is in fact subjective.
Those games Fiber mentioned are all great, but certainly nobody is "wrong" with choosing what THEY believe to be GOTY.
If you are going to dictate a winner, then at least try to back up your extraordinary claims with extraordinary evidence.
I mean, the game was promised to be a Halo Killer and sweep everybody off their feet but PS3 gamers are playing CoD much more.

Ha, yes, I do have a pro-360 attitude but that's only because I try to give it the benefit of the doubt. Sometimes there's just no excuse and I see PS3 fanboys run all over it. I generally dislike when fanboys mock the opposition, but even they are right sometimes too! For example I defend ODST, but it's easy to see why it gets hated ...

I understand that it has a crazy amount of hate because of Activision/IW, PC fans are enraged, the game is "noob-friendly", etc. etc, but the game is still fun, the shooting mechanics are solid, and the components that make up the game are solid.
Spec Ops is challenging, story mode, though short, is still intense and action packed, and the multiplayer is just as addictive as last time. I appreciate that IW added more to the MP than Treyarch did with WaW.

Uncharted 2 is breathtaking. I will never forget lighting up that blue flame in that cave (the "last resting spot of Marco Polo"), seeing the water slush around in a pool or puddle, or watching the fluid movements of Drake kicking ass.
It's a well polished game, and the standard for (console) graphics has been raised by Naughty Dog.
Killzone 2 was also impressive, but Uncharted 2 was much more diverse.
If that means what I think it means then Resistance is definitely not the best choice.
Demon's Souls and Dead Space are good alternatives.
I'm betting that you can find R:FOM and maybe even R2 for cheaper outside of Gamestop. These guys tend to have expensive games regardless of what day of the year it is. I suggest you check out some Toys R Us or maybe WalMart too.
Ha, I remember that. Actually I wrote a blog (sitting in the pending section of the blogs page) about 2009. Demon's Souls was definitely a great surprise. I was very excited with the trailer, but everybody just made fun of it and I followed them like a sheep and eventually ignored any hope I had for Demon's Souls.

Yes, Uncharted 2 is bloody brilliant, but Demon's Souls is JUST as good, and according to Gamespot and myself, it is even BETTER!
