Whats the point of disagreeing with the comment here when the tweet confirming the work on the Xbox version allowed the improvements comes directly from someone in Larian?

This isnt really speculation about whether it happened that way or not, they are the ones saying it did

Also, there are decidedly indie games that choose to work with “indie publishers” like Team17.
The game is still made on a really small budget, by a very small team, but still have the backing of what is arguably a big publisher (or at least decently sized).

The real answer is.. there really isnt a way to clarify it that will work for every scenario and there really isnt anything wrong with that anyway

Well, putting aside that its just EA published and not EA developed, there are 2 EA published games that have gotten GOTY at the Game Awards since they started

Well, to be fair, its not like everything following a GAAS model is exactly the same, you have games that truly rely on the model for content and other that still have a solid initial offering and the live service stuff is usually just dumb stuff they keep adding later on, kind of like the AC RPGs.
Or something like Diablo 4, which had a mostly enjoyable campaign and then most people just ignore the seasonal stuff until an actual big expansion.

Cant say for sure wh...

What exactly is wrong with 5 years to develop a new game though? We know that almost all AAA games are taking around that much, if not more, to develop

Interesting that this wasn’t announced alongside the PC version. You would imagine that part of the idea of a Remastered came from using the extra enhancements they were already getting from the work on the PC port.

I get that some people dont like Remakes being there and there is some point to it.

But I think it also severely undermines the fact that great remakes are not an easy project to do by any means. Not just because its almost always impossible to please everyone because there is an audience that wants 0 changes and one who wants a ton of them.

And walking that tightrope how knowing what things to keep the same, where to introduce quality of life changes tha...

Besides the general marketing point already made, you should keep in mind that it would not be surprising at all if companies have to pay to have their games showcased in the Game Awards, probably not everyone, but its still basically about getting a spot in what has become the biggest marketing space for gaming in recent years.

So yeah, it wouldn’t surprise me if MS came to an agreement with Larian to market the release (maybe even an “Available right now” trailer) during ...

Its not doing enough, there is nothing wrong with saying or believing that. Nor is there a need to pretend otherwise.

Just like most people expect a good output of great quality first party games on their PS5 complimented by third party stuff.
PSVR2 owners also expect first party games to be made as well and Sony right now is seriously lacking and their complete silence on what is being developed doesn’t help.

The thing that surprises me the most about Insomniac is that they dont even have that many employees to begin with.

So even with an exact 50-50 split (which obviously is not really how it would work) its just a little over 250 employees per team

Then you see devs like Bungie or Ubisoft, with 1000+ employees and not even remotely close to the kind of quality and consistency that Insomniac has and you realize they really got something special going on there...

It doesnt really change the fact that almost any kind of user voting these days is heavily exploitable.
People setup bots and other means to completely ruin the integrity of the award. Its no different that they are doing it for something they like, the point is that while you can say that critics can be influenced or biased, user voting is usually much easier to compromise and influence at a fundamental level by giving a single person the option to cast hundreds if not thousands of ...

Given how easily any user generated mechanisms (polls, reviews, etc) are exploited, I honestly would never put the User version as better (especially knowing how…”dedicated” some fanbases can be)

That said, its not like I necessarily put too much stock in any kind of journalist driven awards for that matter, but the issues there can be more about biases rather than the potential of purely brute forcing the voting mechanisms by a single person or small group of individuals, ...

I’m in no way defending the game, but calling the developers lazy when I can assure you that no game of this level gets done in a year and a half without crazy levels of crunch…

Even remasters that barely change anything take a significant amount of time.

Calling the devs lazy for this is just a fundamental misunderstanding of how game development (or any kind of software development for that matter) works.

No game gets done in a year and a half by being lazy, especially at the production level of a COD game.

To release it in such a short amount of time must have been practically non stop crunch, which is the OPPOSITE of being lazy

In fact the only lazy thing here is such a tired and repeated used of the word, which puts all the blame on the developers, for describing completely different issues

Isnt the bundle just for some Warzone Operator skins rather than the full game?

I think it was on the LTT unboxing that they showed that, or is this a different bundle?

And if it is just the skins, that is a really misleading box haha

Its still 12 titles, its just that previously all 12 were somehow supposed to arrive by 2025 and now half of them are 2026+

What awards would you give to FF16 for it to have “most awards” though? Dont get me wrong I quite liked the game, but practically every single category I can think of there was a better game this year than FF16

Action? Spiderman or HiFi Rush
RPG? BG3 (and personally I also prefer Sea of Stars, such a good RPG)
Story? Alan Wake
Music? HiFi Rush or Alan Wake 2 (though FF16 was quite good too)

And as general GOTY, I cant really see...
