4-way SLI is such a waste. You'd be lucky to get 2.25 times the FPS at 5 times the cost($2k) of a single GTX680, and that's if you can get the game to run in 4-way SLI mode.
The PS3 has already outlasted the 8800 (the "OMG" of PC cards with twice the VRAM compared to PS3) ,which came out a year later, when it comes to just being able to play games at min requirements on PC.
If history repeats itself like it always does and the PS4 indeed lau...
Mindless shooting...fun, sure for some. Mature...no. That title for FPS belongs with the likes of Half Life, Arma, Metroid, or Resistance as these games have a very human side to them.
K&M would be MMO, RTS, and P&C. (stop trying to double down on RTS by calling it Strategy...if you mean turn based it is just even)
Puzzles going to PC would only be the case in P&C style as puzzles are adaptive to gameplay mechanics.
Fighters goes to controllers.
Side scrollers slight edge to controllers based on the same principles as fighters winning.

Analog sticks bro, 360 degrees of variation with variable speed, not just four keys allowing for 8 directions.
I love using a mouse, but having fine tuned character control while keeping your sights on target is key.
A combination of both is ideal for FPS, but I have yet to find a one analog stick attachment that is comfortable and supported in games.
Analog triggers/sticks can be advantageous in racing as well for those that don't want t...
IF you thought the 11 year old hackers story wasn't true, this may make you reevaluate your position on the plausibility of that situation. I tell you, some kids can do amazing things when they set their mind to it.
I think a tiered token system might work...where every game has it's own percentage off if you use a token and allowing multiple tokens to be allocated to a single game would allow those with specific tastes to get new games if they don't find enough interest in the 1 token freebies.
You can't even keep your words correct because you are caught in your own paradox.
"said company would be entering *their* 10th generation early"
There is no case of "their" generation as "generation" as you defined it is "the next itteration of consoles* realeased by companies*". emphasis on the "s".
It may be MS third generation but what if nintendo put out five consoles in that same tim...
*Hears TV in other room.*
Is that the Travel channel announcer?
I hope they start the meeting with a video of this format for the PS4 and just leave the charts and graphs alone.
But, based on the history of games as you so thoroughly wrote out these generations aren't defined by a single companies release of a console, these are groups of consoles; otherwise MS would only be entering *their* third gen, rather than *the* eighth.
You (and may others) are simply creating a paradox by trying to define something that can be viewed from different standpoints.
A generation is a time frame; breaking it for individual consoles releases f...
The generation in which a console is in is only a categorization by a group of people by Wikipedia, N4G, or otherwise. No matter how much you may wish the definition was set in stone the perception of a generation is subjective.
The whole definition as you wrote it: "the next iteration of consoles released by companies to the home market" could very well create a time lapse in generational differences.
ex. What would you say if Nintendo released it&...

All from the tech demo, rendered in real-time.

In other words in-game will look that good. There are plenty of videos demonstrating that it is indeed rendered in real-time by changing textures, particle counts, lighting etc.
Yeah, lets get some competition going. Compete for my money, because all I want is games. The better the competition the better my choices look.
Great choice with some excellent points to back your argument.
Personally, I couldn't pick a favorite, but the series is among the best.
I can't wait to see Retro Studios next project as I felt 2 and 3 just couldn't quite reach the level of ambition that they were gunning for on their respective platforms.
Anyway, awesome blog.
LOL...Any time I was near an NPC I set my controller down upside down when I had to as most of the time running off a cliff would be a more viable option than hitting an NPC.
It does to some extent. If you jump between a game say Wipeout 2048 and the web browser you can do it without closing the game. We will probably get revisions with more ram that will be able to run multiple games and apps in parallel.
@Pach (a little info for you too, Dylila) 240frames per second (Hz) is still more "theoretical power". You heard the developers: "Why would you do that?" Even 3DTVs that push twice the normal Hz usually aren't more than 120Hz. If people are going to buy new TVs to get the most out of their new consoles it will be for a more noticeable difference like 4k. If games like BF3 and Skyrim can be played at 4k on a PC for $600-700 now, a closed system console should produce ga...
The biggest problem was the limitations. I made an amazing level, but I couldn't even put characters in it or the surprise I had planned, because the level was overfilled. I've had levels that would run in create mode and end immediately in play mode from too many emitters. I've crash my PS3 on nearly 25 occasions trying to fit more in a level. If I had more freedom with the level design I and many more could make levels on par with MM's levels. And many great levels still go ...
It's called account activation.
If you use a service like Steam, SEN, Live, Itunes, Amazon, etc. you register an account, and activate it on all your devices up to however many devices they allow.
All your games, music, movies are linked to an account and can be downloaded to any device that has said account active on it. If you deactivate an account for a device you can no longer use any of the content downloaded on that device, but can still download th...
Minimum requirements are the 400 or equivalent series which wasn't even available till 2010 and yet console hardware from 2005 can run it just fine.
Five years of advancement in PC tech only to be on par with consoles. Not exactly efficient.
Maybe you should consider the implications of how that effects a standardized hardware format that could be unveiled any time now...
