Whoa there, the 1.84TFLOP matches a 7850-7870, not a 7850m.

The 7870m barely outputs 1TFLOP at 800MHz, the 7850m can't even make that.

The 7970m outputs just over 2TFLOPS at 850MHz.

The PS4s GPU is set for a 800MHz clock.

I've heard it quoted as a "set of 7990s", but then again others are saying a single 7990.

Could be some confusion about the 7990 being a dual GPU itself. But, that little tidbit kills the whole dual GPU being a problem in the first place.

It was clearly 60FPS. I have no idea about the resolution, but was supposibly well over what was seen in the 1080p video.

Nonetheless it's go big or go home for AMD, so they are not going t...

No, sorry. It just mean that it won't take a $5k rig to run it.

Pre-Alpha...totally agree, very polished looking, but the code is **** right now.

You should have seen what they were running it on.

TWO Radeon HD 7990's(4.3-6.9 TFLOPS EACH depending on version and clocking, 12GB GDDR5 ~$900 EACH), at least 16GB DDR3 RAM, and I believe AMDs best 8 core CPU.

Probably a $5k rig...*orgasm* *eyes bleed* *wallet commits suicide*

Any decently coded final version of a game would run at hellish ...

@ExgamerLegends...Don't do that, it promotes misinformation. Just look at this guy...and my disagrees at that...

@red2tango

I hate having to be explicit about the details, but...

4k is 3840*2160. ~8.3 megapixels

1080p is 1920*1080. ~2.1 megapixels

There is literally 4 times as many pixels on a 4k TV as a 1080p TV because it's the area of a rectangle.

2k is ~1080p. Just slightly over in fact.

4k is 2160p or 4 times 1080p.

The ____p count is vertical pixels. The _k count is an approximation of horizontal pixels

Your missing the point...The PS3 outperforms a Geforce GTX 8800 which came out a year later than the PS3 at the same price as the PS3s release.

In other words you can go buy a PS4 for $500 at the end of this year and have it outperform a $500 graphics card from the end of next year.

What's funny is how PC gamers don't realize how cut down their version of this demo is.

The the mountains are never rendered on the PC version while ins...

I get what you are saying, but like boodi expressed, you have to notice it also has fixed camera angles, and animations that have been fine tuned to look the best at those angles.

Don't get me wrong, it's still impressive, just in the in game cut scene kind of way. There is still no doubt that we will see far better looking games over the years to come.

None of those effects had any actual impact on the game play.

They've already done some serious work.

GTX 680 demo chugged even moreso than this and didn't even have the ground cracking scene.

The only difference is Sparse Voxel Octree Global Illumination (like anyone would know without being told), particle count in some scenes, and a change in fluid physics.

We will see far better. Games like GOW and Uncharted on PS3 saw a 20-50% increase in framerate while improving upon their lighting and te...

GDDR6 isn't expected to hit the market till the end of 2014.

That's nearly two years before the first crazy *** priced implementations of that tech even hits the market for people who have $2000 to blow on their rigs.

If you've played the first Infamous game from disk it starts with a 2 GB install and about 20-30% in you can start playing.

Conceptually, its the same thing, just with a download and install.

Let's just say the average persons internet has some catching up to do.

Overclocking a GTX titan to just over 1.2 GHz can net you over 2 TFLOPS double precision, but that is pretty much unsustainable without liquid cooling.

None the less if the next gen consoles have a decent graphics card ~1.8 TFLOPS and two discrete GPUs from tacking two APUs together, the fact that the consoles could go toe to toe with a GTX 680 to a Titan in terms of raw performance for a ~$500 price is nothing short of amazing.

Did you consider the APUs discrete GPU(s).

Recent iterations have been pushing ~640 GFLOPS, and the PS4/720 architecture appear to be two new, yet to be released, APUs bolted together with a separate GPU.

1.84 TFLOP GPU + 2 * 4 core APU + 2 discrete GPUs (~700-800 GFLOPS each) = 3.25-3.5 TFLOPS total.

That's just raw power, no optimization.

The hardware has ~2x the memory needed for a 4k frame buffer and plentiful bandwi...

@Greenpowerz...LOL...no. A GTX TITAN (4-5x more expensive) barely has over 1.8 TFLOPS double precision.

Those are single precision counts.

If MS have two APUs("single" 8 core with two discrete GPUs) bolted in their 720 like Sony's PS4 supposibly has they might get numbers like that, but not from the GPU alone.

Between the destruction of full buildings and the impact of individual bullets it defiantly has that BF:BC2 level of destruction with BF3 level of details.

Even the animations look smoother.

Can't tell for the lighting and sound, but they are sure to be top notch.

Efficiency vs power

Nvidia's face tech demo used over half the power of a $1000 graphics card and likely $2000 rig...to render one bald guy's face...at 720p.

QD tech demo...was what they expect to achieve in game for various random characters.

What are you going to do? Play the opening of Super Mario 64 with a realistic face?
