I'm almost 100% sure there WON'T be a Switch XL or mini. An upgraded Switch around 2020 is about the only revision I see happening but who knows.

I wouldn't call it "great" news. It's pretty depressing, for me at least, that this is their best selling game at only 1.31 million. All their games, the Xenoblade ones especially, deserve so many more sales.
Not having played the first Xenoblade means that a lot of what happens in 2 is going to go right over your head. You really should have played the first one first.

Smash Bros. will lose A LOT of sales if it comes out anywhere near Pokemon.
I seriously doubt Pokemon will come out this year. Smash is the big holiday title for Nintendo this year. I figure we'll probably get a trailer for Pokemon at e3 with a spring 2019 release.

Between the Wii U eshop and the Switch eshop I've bought probably about 4 dozen games that were 50% or more off during a sale.
