I agree completely with Microsoft's entry-level Core model approach.
They need to drop the price on that, AND THE ADDONS.
Make it competitive, and not a 20gig HD for $140, with only 13 gig's free, when you can slap in a 250gig drive in a PS3 for LESS.

You're right but I think even when/if Broadband is everywhere we're comparing the rental market to the buying market. Direct Downloads may do away with or change the focus of Blockbuster's & Hollywood Video's physical stores but that's the rental market.
Buying is completely different even with some market overlap between buyers & renters. I'm rarely going to rent what I planned on...
