The only failure Sony has was the money the list this gen,their console sells are no worst than nintendo's for two gens prior,as for third party support ,it's there just not as strong in the ps2 days.
You're right,most Pcs and laptop out compete the ps360 but consoles all have standard hardware and to access the hardware for a dev is easier,to kind if make a point ,does anyone remember the nvidia medusa demo?its rendering method is probably more advance compared to console games but the character models don't look any better than gow 3.

@bit How is that going to be better than ps move? Move is a physical controller so it has the ability to work with a variety of games were kinect and it's derivatives are suited to just casual games.

The 3ds didn't sell because of lack of games and high the vita has a similar problem but it's more of,the lack proper game is different genre and ones that uses its capabilities,the is priced right in comparison to tablets/mobile and the 3ds.
@dirty Yeah,one year sells tells us that the vita is a failure,once you finished running your console business you should acquire Sony's game division and better than they can.

@ frank Operation winback,killswitch already did third person shooting,halo was based of a game called marathon,there was a concept demo of killzone in 1999. The first link doesn't work and you're taking the second link out of context because the xbox wasn't successful until the 360,the jax sequel were darker in tone and gow was a some what realistic game.
@chuck No it wouldn't,if Sony plan to have a updated cell in the ps4 it could help with the 4k res as for the gpu,imagination technology does make high performance 4k encoders & decoders,the way they have been talking about their GPUs let's me believe that they could make a monster chip for consoles.
@logic skype allows the vita to make phone calls,that can be beneficial if don't have a phone,I might be wrong but I believe the iPod and 3ds can't do that.

@maniac Getting dlc on the xbox first is not a perk because everybody knows the money they pour in to dlc could've been used to make a new ip or bring back a games that people want.
@Ben Sony could do the same and you wouldn't need psn+,they only do that with dlc because they don't want to make exclusive games.
