I think both are going to do great. If you own a PS3 you will probably buy R2 and if you own a 360 you will probably buy Gears2.
If I had to choose it would be Gears 2 hands down.

Well if they do they must not own many games considering you can count the games with trophy support on one hand.

Yes, because Oblivion came out 6 months later on the PS3 and they had extra time to polish it and then released an update for the 360 version that improved it as well.
Considering the 360 version has exclusive DLC and was the lead platform I would say the 360 version is the way to go. Everything you've seen in demo's, etc has been the 360 version.

How do you come to the conclusion that this looks even remotely close to the XMB? Because it has text on the screen? If anything it looks more like an Ipod Touch and the XMB looks like the Windows Media Center interface.
What you might consider a flop many people do not. Do you really want to call Ninja Gaiden 2 a flop which scored an 80? I would be careful not to incriminate yourself because there are only 5 games in the whole PS3 library that have scored in the 90+ meaning the PS3 has the biggest library of flops of them all going by these idiotic standards. Sorry but besides Banjo there is LIPS, In the Movies and Scene-It 2 and then many XBLA games. You also are listing games for PS3 that have no release date. Eye pet is coming this holiday? Nope.
Sony has an awesome line-up but don't discredit the 360.
Chubear do you have any idea how development cycles work? Games don't get made in months but rather years. MS doesn't have the first party army that Sony has and MS spent a lot of their ammo in 07.
We are just in the middle of a cycle and I think you will see a lot more game announcements coming. Microsoft has gone away from talking about games that aren't planned to release for year(s) out.

Both are looking good it seems like the days of PS3 getting inferior ports are gone and these comparisons should go with it. I guess it could benefit multi-console owners but still seems like they cause more flames than help.
