Already almost as much as the RROD cost Microsoft over all these years. And think of all the lost customers, present and future. This is such a disaster that Sony did not deserve to have happen to them.
1. PS2
2. Xbox 360
3. Genesis
4. N64
5. PS1
Both cost/or will cost their companies billions. But sensitive data like credit card information getting out is much worse than your console simply breaking. This PSN fiasco is going to lose Sony TONS of present and future customers. At the current rate, the PS3 was set to pass the 360 in total sales by as early as summer 2013, but now it will likely never happen.
I'd say the PSN disaster is worse and I have gone through four Xbox 360s (only paid for the first one, though...
After the success of the PS2, the PS3 has been a huge failure no matter which way you cut it. Last gen, Sony had over 50% of the market share with the PS2, and now they are in last place and have been for almost 5 years.
This list seems to be missing a few titles. Here are all the PS3 games 90 and above that do not appear on the Xbox 360:
96 - Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
95 - LittleBigPlanet
94 - Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
92 - God of War III
92 - LittleBigPlanet 2
91 - MLB 10: The Show
91 - God of War Collection
91 - Killzone 2
90 - MLB 09: The Show
For comparison, here are all the 90+ Xbox 360 game...
It's the same with Xbox 360 exclusives in 2010:
94 - Halo 3
91 - Halo: Reach
89 - Fable II
80 - Fable III
83 - Crackdown
70 - Crackdown 2
It's not a conspiracy, the games just aren't as good (or fresh) as their predecessors.
FFXIII had tons of CGI cutscenes. Almost 90% of the space the game took up was for that CGI. L.A. Noire's cutscenes will all use the game's engine, just like every open world Rockstar game. It's this new facial animation and motion capture technology that is taking up all the space this time.
This will almost certainly end up like every other Rockstar game, with a higher resolution and framerate for the 360 version.
I was actually glad as hell that the 360 version of Dead Space 2 has two discs when it came to the achievement for completing the game with only 3 saves. The disc swap was a free checkpoint!
@princeofthabay
"Since the game is built around the concept of progressing through individual cases from desk to desk, players on Xbox will find disc-swapping is hassle-free. In fact, players will only need to swap discs twice at natural breaks between cases without interrupting the flow of the game."
@Scary69 "I thinks is reasonable its better then what 360 got when Live went down for 2 weeks. IGN has failed in gaming journalism and should look for another job."
There is NO WAY you can even compare the two situations. First of all, LIVE was not completely down that holiday season. It worked for many people. It worked on and off for others. This PSN event is on a whole other level. Tens of millions of people's personal information and credit card numbers have...
Resistance 2
Week 1 Sales: 409,270
Lifetime Sales: 2.13m
Metascore: 87
Gears of War 2
Week 1 Sales: 1,945,524
Lifetime Sales: 6.06m
Metascore: 93
If Resistance 2 and Gears 2 are anything to go by, Resistance 3 is no competition for Gears of War 3.
Checking the Americas pre-order chart, 20 weeks from launch, Resistance 3 does not even appear in the top 20, which means it has le...
Maybe 2%?
When the PS3 released in 2006, the 360 had a 5 million lead. Today, four and a half years later, the 360 has an approximate 3.7 million lead. It has gone up and down, but in the end the gap has been decreased by only 1.3 million units in those 4.5 years. At this rate, it will only be another 13 years until the PS3 finally passes the Xbox 360! Whoopee!!!!
What a complete disaster. I feel bad for Sony for once....
I think I speak for everyone when I say:
"THAT'S IT?!"
The beta already has more players than most full games, just from the minority of users who bought Bulletstorm or got in early by other means. Once all the pre=order people are in, it will easily be in the top 5 most played games on Xbox LIVE, and it would be the #1 most played game BY FAR if it were on the PSN (and the PSN were actually working).
@badz149
No, the Xbox 360 definitely has more real, active online users than the PS3. But the PSN is on both the PS3, with 50 million units, and the PSP, with 80 million units. There are more PSN users than Xbox LIVE users, but not more PS3 online users than 360 online users.
@Soldierone: "They always give exclusive titles low scores"
Oh, give me a break! Almost every big PS3 exclusive has a higher score on IGN than its average on Metacritic. Stop spouting nonsense without even doing any research. You come off as a total fool.
@Ramzadel: "Until we see articles stop exaggerating problems other console manufacturers get a pass at Sony will remain the king in gaming this and the millions of other articles are further proof of this."
Ha! Sony has NOT been the "king of gaming" since the PS3's launch in 2006.
These may be this site's most anticipated games, but they are not the most anticipated games for 2011 in reality. I would say that Gears of War 3, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3, and maybe Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception would be the most anticipated, having millions upon millions of gamers waiting upon their releases.
