This will be a major selling point for Sony's new TV's coming in 2013, it's definitely a selling feature for Samsung and LG's TV's.
This definitely will be a major selling point so he's kind of spot on, but I don't think he believes they bought Gaikai for that reason alone.
If you look at Sony's current design language from their TV's, Laptops, headsets down to their media boxes, BR players, phones and projectors you'll get a pretty good idea of what the PS4 will look like.
It won't look like that hideous childish looking concept in the article. It will look contemporary, simple and sleek.
Glossy is cheap looking and many companies are moving away from using it on their products, it should only be used in certain...
Why are they always trying to appeal to the West? just do your own stuff and forget about them. What's with all this appealing to the West BS? Why only the West? how about making something appealing to the rest of the world and not just the Western audience.
This is why games are so crap nowadays.
How did this rehashed article get approved?
Why are you calling BS? both are next-gen engines and CryEgine 3 dose everything UE4 dose, have you been sleeping all this time?
Just like how UE4 dose everything in real-time CE3 dose as well, and in regards to lighting Crytek have actually been doing it in real-time for several years now.
Almost everything on UE4's feature list is on CE3's feature list and that's because both are great engines, both are easy to use and both as I said before are...
If it's not FFvs13 then who really cares?
The last time I checked Microsoft started this gen. Sony's "next-gen doesn't start until we say so" statement was filled with nothing but arrogance.
What they did start was their own downfall losing about $200 on every PS3 sold (back then) and only recently have started making a small profit on every PS3 sold.
The old Sony that made that ridiculous statement is gone (hopefully).
The reasons for why he did this is already mentioned in the article.
It would be nice if you could actually read the article.
It looks like bull-shots to me.
IT was running on a 6990.
They did a side by side comparison of the CGI version vs the real-time version, so yes this is real-time.
It's tech demo for their next-gen game engine, if it wasn't running in real-time what would be the point of DEMONSTRATING the TECHNOLOGY if it was just CGI?
We don't need them to show us how good pre-rendered CGI looks, Avatar already does good job of doing that.
So does Uncharted 3 and The Last of Us so what's your point?
Their new engine will make it easier for SE to out put massive RPG games that look like this tech demo or close to it with shortened development times next-gen.
Now that they have a good engine and are set for next-gen, the problems SE were plagued with this gen won't happen next-gen.
The only remaining exclusive games that I'm interested in are TLOU and FFvs13, once they come out Sony better release the PS4 because I don't plan on playing anything after those two come out on the PS3.
But Halo 4 runs at native 720p and it's using a new form of AA so you have no argument.
Beyond Two souls blows anything out of the water? what are you smoking? Even though ND aren't aiming for photorealism TLOU looks more photo-realistic than Beyond Two souls.
David Cages wants to achieve photorealism yet he can't be bothered investing in creating an engine that can achieve it.
The QD engine has crappy particles effects, has crappy cloth and light simulation and most of all can't render the realistic properties of human skin, both Cr...
This is a tech demo demonstrating their new engine for next-gen consoles. Anyone complaining about the "feel" are a bunch of retards.
It's always been SE goal to achieve CGI quality graphics in real-time and it looks like next-gen they'll achieve that without breaking a sweat.
Bravo SE bravo.
the long wait for FFvs13 wasn't Tetsuyo Nomuras fault, it was Wadas fault for pushing FF13 and 13-2.
The new Tomb Raider and Star Wars use better animations and use transitional-cutscenes giving off a CGI feel. That cinematic feeling you get from these games is just by-product of better animated characters and better environmental interactions.
ND have intentionally created cenimatic set-pieces in the UC franchise but their transitional-animations imo have been poor and clunky.
“[Big sigh] Well, there were different things. With the team, we were pretty much unhappy with everything. We thought we could have done a better job in all areas, and have better rendering, and better visuals, and better gameplay, and better everything.”
I've held this opinion even before it released and low and behold the devs also felt the same way before release. It just goes to show just how many of you PS3 fanboys block out reality and that everything I said about t...
The PS4 will be based on AMD's HAS architecture so trust me it'll be affordable and a beast.
Why are you comparing multiplatform games running on their highest settings to TLOU? The graphical fidelity between the PC version and console version of any game is almost the same, the only difference is higher resolutions/fps and better AA.
You need to compare a PC exclusive game that maxes out the potential of current high end PC's to the TLOU and then make a judgement, but that's the problem such a PC exclusive doesn't even exist.
There shoul...
