The price is only an issue because it's a four year old generation/platform. (Hence, why I separated the sentences into two different paragraphs. One regarding building a PC, the other about price.)
Reading comprehension is a skill that will serve you well.
"maybe they'll drop some bombs to counter some of its hype," you can count on it. 😉
This isn't Microsoft. When Sony announces seven games will be announced, it's usually not bottom/mid-shelf titles like Flappy Birds, Duku Ki Hu 7, and Double Dragon VII. We're potentially looking at more offerings like Detroit: Become Human and Days Gone.
Keep in mind that some of these games will be twenty-nineteen. With some even possible to get pushed onto PS5.

Did you edit your post or something? There is plainly zero logical reasons you should have that bad of a down-vote ratio.
I thought the exact same thing: Next year COULD VERY WELL BE bigger.
Seven all new? Wow.
When you think that typical game announcements by Sony are title such as Detroit: Become Human, Days Gone and God of War thinking about SEVEN MORE games is like...
💣💥
Almost $550 (including tax) for a console that is part of a four year old generation? Not interested.
If I really cared about graphics that much I'd build a gaming PC.
Why is it, then, that PlayStation owners are also often seen praising Nintendo, but XBOX fans tend to have extreme prejudice against anything besides their Microsoft console?
Nintendo and PlayStation gamers tend to more-often-than-not understand that Microsoft is hurting the game industry. Between causing division with gamers and caring more about business than the art/passion/soul of gaming not many good things come from Microsoft.
On behalf of Testsujin's statement:
Mic Drop
Ideally, we wouldn't need to worry about money. We would all work doing something we love, be given anything we desire, and have self-control enough to not be greedy. (The Star Trek society.) That is an environment in which the 'as long as you pay a service charge you can digitally borrow any games' model would function. Unfortunately, in today's society we rely upon investing that helps solidify our financial stability. Together with saving, we all have peace-of-mind we have ...

Something tells me that you won't admit to this in two years when the PlayStation 5 lands and claims the "top-notch visual experience."
Simple: First, it's about playing the best selection of games. Second comes graphics.
N4G WENT DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF ME POSTING:
Corrected Post:
Here's why Gaming as a Service won't work:
Gaming (especially console/PC gaming) is different than someone listening casually to music, or watching a two hour movie.
Movies are watch and done until you (maybe) feel like watching it again. Songs are typically background entertainment. Games require return time investment over weeks and sometimes months....

Microsoft, once again trying to ruin gaming.
Want proof Microsoft pays to get coverage in media? This article is coming up first in the N4G feed for "hottest" article on the day Super Mario Odyssey releases. Given there are only sixty comments on here it's obviously not the "hottest." 'Eff you Microsoft, let Nintendo enjoy some well-earned attention.

Super happy with my PlayStation 4 Pro and all the most revered titles this gen (otherwise known as the typical suspects): Horizon Zero Dawn, Metal Gear Solid V, Uncharted 4, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Nioh....and even DiRT Rally....
BUT....
your statement deserves a, HERE, HERE!
I respect any manufacturer that improves the face of gaming. I just wish Microsoft cared about the actual games that gamers play rathe...
Oh, let me adjust to fulfill that:
One.) Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
Two.) Horizon Zero Dawn
Definitely impossible to argue Nintendo doesn't help keep single-player game market chugging along.
Super Mario Odyssey outdoing one of the best single-player games of all-time, Super Mario 64, yeap, seems certain.
Dali-esque? Sign me up......on PlayStation, please, hurry, and thanks.
(Still waiting on Kentucky Route Zero, too.)
Considering that the top three games on PlayStation 4 are all structured around single-player design stories like this need to cut-it-out. At this point it's just click-bait to instigate.
One.) Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
Two.) Horizon Zero Dawn
Three.) Persona 5
So theoretically a large group of players could pull a pilgrims-across-the-sea move and transplant across the Cosmos? Phenomenal.
Wonder how many players this game will have at peak levels. Millions? Dozens of millions?
