AMD UDNA seems to be the key.
It has sold far more than expected... and holiday season is here. Good move, Sony.
Nintendo Switch is the way, only one platform to think about and focus resources on it. Maybe Nintendo does the right thing and they don't mess with hardware+software too different to the one devs know.
FSR
Or... Xbox Series X is the normal one and Series S should have not existed.
Machine Games titles are a little bit harsh... well... they need effort, but at the end, when you get used to the mechanics and a somewhat old-fashioned style, inherited from Quake and company, you get to enjoy them. But yes, they require an effort from the player and not everyone is willing to do it. Although, if you are hooked by the story and characters, Machine Games games are a must... very brutal.
So... we'll can enjoy the "adventure" without playing it, on Youtube. Well, the game seems to be another Wolfenstein, but with Indy instead of William Joseph "B.J." Blazkowicz. So the gameplay can be skipped and go straight to the interesting part.
Veilguard has better graphics.
No, it isn't.
Yes, we take in account that for every unit sold on PlayStation Sony receives a percentage, not only for physical copies, but for platform royalties.
256MB + 256MB instead of unified RAM or NVIDIA not adding 512MB VRAM for a reasonable price was the problem
So... AMD need more software engineers, not better hardware.
After PC.
10 GB of RAM and 4 TFLOPs of GPU power... in 2024, this is a nightmare for developers who have 16 GB and 10 TFLOPs of base hardware for developing.
They did not need Unreal Engine 5, they had the platform, the resources and everything on site to do something like this or better.
UDNA+ or 2, then... yes, it would be a real 4 generations gap for Next Steam Deck. I like how Gabe thinks. I'm in. BTW, Steam Deck had ad hoc hardware that still is valid for nearly all games that go to market. It still has some margin before a new hardware is ready or really needed.
So... it is not less than 3 years before we see it. Next gen PlayStation, then. Nice.
Why they did not launch this in 2020 with Xbox Series?
I think this will be another Xbox One / PS4 generation with cheaper hardware and more investment in developers and marketing. The technology in 2026/27 will be available and already tested, in the line of AI NPUs, real and useful Ray Tracing applications not only for reflexes, shadows and sound... PCIe 5 will be the cheaper version... Chiplets and X3D cache will be in its 6th+ iteration, the "power of the cloud" will be transparent and available for everybody... well... It depends o...
Clickbait... Are you poor enough to sell a console to buy another one? Answer. Are you poor enough to have only one platform? Don't answer.
