Exclusive: We talk to Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft Game Studios, at Gamescom about Xbox One's rocky road to launch
A camera the size of another console... remember it.
And Kinect for Xbox One some years behind its time.
I remember the PS3 presentation in the Hollywood Palladium with a mockup that had two HDMI ports and promised two CELL processors. There was no NVIDIA hardware inside at that time... Two years later, it was on sale with only one HDMI, one CELL and one NVIDIA chip, and 256+256 MB of RAM... The PS3 had a really, really hard start. Some of us thought it was dead on arrival, with the Xbox 360 already in shops a year before (two years before in Europe). But Sony made it. It was something to be stu...
In my circle, almost everyone is convinced about using the cloud or a PC for Xbox games. They don't even think about buying an Xbox console. They have Switch, PS5, Steam Deck, laptops, Desktop PCs and a some are really expecting an ASUS Rog Ally. Nothing about Xbox in sight... and that's sad, because we hardly find games at a bargain in local shops or accesories, only online and with higher prices than the competition. It is not only that Microsoft sells less consoles, it is that acce...
But... if you consider Xbox Series X a console and Xbox Series S another, as some developers and editors do (cof!, Square-Enix, cof!) then this would be like 6:1.7:0.3
Isn't it?
Mind the GAP...
Perhaps, Microsoft should stop forcing developers and publishers to support Xbox Series S. If they would allow games to be released on Xbox One X, without the need for Xbox Series S to be supported as well, developers of demanding titles would find it easier to develop for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The PC would be the next option, with a view to lower versions that would work on Xbox Series S... But forcing it to come out at the same time on Xbox X Series and Xbox Series S is a stumbli...
Good point.
Being on Game Pass is what hurts sales... and income. Companies have learned about this and only some indies will be there if Microsoft money abandons Game Pass massive sponsoring plan.
What's next.. Starfield? Maybe a beta, soon, can help fixing it before launch. Also, some hype about the lore and universe, as Mass Effect did with books, videos, sites... could help to enter in good shape to this completely new product.
When does next Halo go on sale? It is for a friend.
Good luck.
That one is easy: SteamOS.
Maybe one now in hands of Activision, EA, Tencent, Netease...
$699
Valve... your turn.
3$ shared accounts... Egypt people are smart people. And, also, many in the rest of the world use VPN to buy cheaper suscriptions than in their countries. That's a problem for companies like Netflix, HBO, Microsoft...
So... that's 4$ billion a year... How many years would need MS to compensate a 60$ billion adquisition?
