But you're forgetting that story driven games are not synonomous with games in general. Rez is the kind of game you play over and over. A story driven game you can only play so many times before the story loses it's magic (more often than not, just 1-2 times). In the case of puzzle games or multiplayer games, the experience is almost always different, or the challenge is almost always different.
Story driven games just get repetitive, and 5 hours is not worth $40 for a single p...
agree. The PS3 isn't more powerful, the cell can be used in new different ways, but it isn't more powerful than the 360's. They both come out to about even in the end, regardless of how much you might not like to think so.
IdTech begs to differ. Rage is being dumbed down on the PS3 compared to the PC and 360 versions, and actually delayed both the PC and 360 versions as well as itself because of the limits of the system (namely split memory, and no, there aren't many good ways to work around split memory other than huge install files). Considering their engine is easily portable to all three platforms (360, PS3, and PC), it being worse on their platform says a lot.
when did split memory become superior?
by the time you're seeing games using the PS3 as the lead platform, the next gen will be right around the corner. It's unfortunate but true. Had Sony done a better job supporting developers innitially with documentation etc. on the new system it might not be the case, but I don't see sony's gamble paying off with the way they treated the first year. It feels like it will be too little too late to me.
I'm not touching halo 3 till they bring back the team snipers hopper. It was great on so many levels. It was fun, actually took skill, and was great for training aim for general play.
Also, a custom game search would bring halo back very well. I don't have a lot of friends that still play halo, let alone play custom games when they play it. That means I have a 0% chance of having fun in a custom game unless I get rediculously lucky. Same with Halo 2. I loved tower of power, but...
That might be exactly the point. You're already pissed that M$ is getting a great number of RPGs (the place Sony had the biggest advantage coming into this gen), at this rate it's only a matter of time till people start moving over.
Not saying everyone will switch over, but M$ is definately doing a better job spreading itself across all genres than people are giving it credit for. I think 360 has the top rated games in almost all genres except sports right now?
XBL is about to get a wealth of indy games that are going to be playable for free over XBL/XNA creators club. These are going to be a mix of new and established games(like chess/checkers/airhockey).
Either way, how much time do you honestly think you will spend playing checkers or chess in home? It's good to have as an option, but there are many larger issues with PS3/PSN that they could be fixing with the resources they're putting into home.
Now, on Home being a...
cuz it's only the xbox fans AMIRITE?!
Half the studios they closed were internal studios that weren't "closed", but moved. EA hasn't really destroyed any studios in half a decade, and they seem to be making a turn around in actually preserving studios, rather than buying them for rights to their IPs.
Cut them a little slack till they actually mess up again. Buying things isn't bad. Wait till they mess something up before you jump down their throats.
They're designing a virtual world to meet people have fun/communicate with friends, and play games, but they're forgetting that a good online service that's integrated across all games is already a virtual world where you can meet people, play games, and have fun/communicate with friends.
Honestly, would you rather go into home walk to a cinema and watch the movie projected onto a fake cinema screen, or just stream the movie?
In that same vein, but slightly different, Do you honestly think you're going to spend that much time on your PS3 decorating your apartment? When I go on my console, it's not to just mess around, it's to play games. Everything else is unimportant, and there's no need to put so much time into it.
PS: I hate that I can't say &...
10 years ago, I would have said "SWEET I can use MSN for less than the price of my phone to talk to people around the world." 5 years ago, I would have said "SWEET I can connect with people from my area/school in a moderated relatively exclusive community while having an easy way to stay in touch with all my friends regardless of how often I change my email or SNs."
All of those things brought an advantage to the table. Home doesn't really have an advantage....
Last week he said that he didn't like at all what Sony Japan's ideas for the PS brand. Something a long the lines of Sony always being stuck with what works instead of moving forward and going for what's going to work in the future. He gave the example of social gaming, which gave the Wii and Xbox/360 their success so far.
isn't till July... o.O
Has anyone considered that it might be more of an interactive movie type thing? That's one of the best ways to really get across story telling and immersion both in games right now. Or maybe it will have some sort of check that makes sure you are progressing at a certain rate so that you can develop the story faster (something like NPC's either leading you, or yelling at you, or coming to find you if your lost)
i donno.
More likely it just has some jaw droppingly...
Why wasn't the project lead or a business executive in charge of the project, who should know how it will benefit the companies, presenting or assisting in presenting on it?
When you look at something like M$'s keynote at CES, they bring on people that work on and have a super intimate knowledge of the tools and how they work, but they're never on stage without a business executive.
It just seems logical that a business be able to ask about the benefits monetaril...
Someone on the first page said they were amazed no 360 fans posted stupid things here yet, so your welcome:
TREECITY HAS TEH GEARZ OF WAR 2... >ALL PS3 GAMES. PS3 KILLS BABIES AND BUNNY RABBITS AND SUPPORTED THE HOLOCAUST. SONY IS THE DEVIL AND I HOPE THEY DIE. M$ GIVES SEXUAL PLEASURE WHILE GAMING, PS3 < all M$ products, including windows 95.
Serious post is not serious...
That thing was a tank. Not quite as good as the Gamecube, but it still got shot with rifle and shotgun shells, thrown out windows a few stories up, against walls, etc. and still worked. stupid X clamps...
Is he serious? Shoulder buttons? R1>triggers. R1>shoulder button.
WTF? please tell me I'm not the only one that thought that was a rediculous reason.
