I don't even like metal gear anymore (for reason number one in this article. F@ck social commentary.) and I know resistance 2 isn't even going to compete with it.
PS3 hasn't tapped into either of those markets either. 360's spread into the other consoles' niches more than the PS3 has spread into any of them.
The biggest demographic the PS3's sold to is movie watchers, which has nothing to do with games. Unlike the PS2, there were no players cheaper than the PS3, so it's not ok to assume it'll work like the PS2, which sold a lot because it had DVD, but everyone who bought it had gaming in mind at the same time.
Their units shipped dropped. They overshipped by 2 million units in 2006, units that were still on the shelf in 2007 but counted as sales for 06. When you throw that into the mix it sold slightly more in 07, and outsold the PS3.
Don't take the numbers from M$ or sony, they both report units shipped. Units sold are better represented by an outside group like NPD that does retail polling.
Not releasing numbers weekly does not mean it isn't increasing.

Someone actually post a comment BY SONY THEMSELVES that's at all acknowledging any possible challenge to sony. You don't need to look that far to see what's destroying this site.
in halo wars. I really want to see how they do it. It's a lot more about actual combat than resource management, which is probably the only way to get RTS to work well at all on a console.
I'm excited to see how they do it more than the actual game itself.
I'd expect it next year depending on how much content they're planning on putting in. Still psyched for it, I'm just being a realist expecting it to be out in 09.
Firmware won't affect hacking unless you want to play online, and they can replace updates for that. They have to design all games to play on the original launch PS3s, so you only have to emulate the system enough to get it to read like a launch PS3. No firmware update will stop that.
The only reason people don't hack it is because it's complicated. I'm sure someone's probably working on making a chip to work around licensing for things like this already though.
They're already more than 3/4 of the way to the sales the xbox made in it's entire lifetime in the first 3 years. Unless you expect 360 sales to suddenly stagnate, which they won't as almost all consoles have sold best late in their lifetime when they open to the mass market. Then keep in mind M$ is actually making a profit off the 360 now, and will continue to.

They release it exclusive because M$ pays them more money than they'd probably make releasing it on both consoles.
That Nintendo and M$ are even beating the sony console it's already a victory. Sony won by a rediculous amount for the past two generations, the fact that the install bases of either of the other consoles are larger than Sony's is a huge blow to Sony.
Even if Sony does pass M$, they're well on pace to sell more than enough to pass last gen, and have a strong presence next gen after not even being involved with console gaming 10 years ago. That's still an amazing feat in and of ...

And you might have to start choosing which games you can play at any time. That's what I'd be worried about. If I want to play chromehounds right now, I can play it right now. If I knew I would have to wait 20 minutes and potentially 40 after reinstalling the old game just to play chromehounds, I probably wouldn't want to play it anytime in the near future.
Video card drivers are not the same. One adds extra functionality to the video card as it is used by the game. This is unrealistic because not everyone can get online, and not every game will have space to include the new drivers on the discs, or will not want to be forced to include them.
The other is the added ability of you to now play new videos. It doesn't change the way you play any game at all.
I think the system is fine, but the enemy AI once in combat sucked. if you held block and were decent at counters you couldn't die--ever...
Can someone justify the disagrees? I'm not talking about direct vs. combat between two characters. Just co-op multiplayer or maybe race to the assassination multiplayer. It would be a lot of fun freerunning across the city with your friends. Setting up distractions to open up assassinations would be a lot of fun too.
It should have a 20-30 hour storyline and 100's of hours of potential gameplay either through replayability or side quests/exploration.
