Do you HONESTLY think Sony is going to sit on its ass for the next two-three years while Nintendo and Microsoft launch their new consoles?
That would be suicide.
If they want to do this right they have to price it right and beat MS to market.
Sony has a lot going for them right now with the momentum of the PSVita and amazing lineup of games on PS3. I don't see any reason to stomp all over those by jumping the gun and announcing the PS4 before they need to.
There is no doubt in my mind that these rumors are at least somewhat true, but they should announce it NGP-style.
Hold a private press event early next year, after the Vita launches to unveil the PS4. Show off the system, some games and talk about...
Announcing it before the Vita comes out would be a mistake IMO.

Unless GameStop works out a deal with every major publisher where the publisher gets a % of every sale, its only a matter of time before everyone does this.
Doesn't affect me whatsoever. The last game I bought used was Resistance: Fall of Man and that was probably 3 years ago.
Uncharted and Twisted Metal I'm buying for sure. Resistance 3 I'm 50/50 on right now. I'll probably buckle and buy it just because I enjoyed the first one so much.
Ico/SotC is what I'm really excited for tho. I missed out on those games last gen so I can't wait for it.

Ya, seeing as how the only games they showed were tech demos, it really didn't seem like they were ready to reveal it yet.
Hopefully they'll have some good stuff to show us later this year.
They don't release them yet because they probably don't know the exact final specs yet.

Meh, I'll buy it whenever it comes out but I'm still holding out hope for Kingdom Hearts 3 this gen.
And with all the great games coming out this year, I'm only going to be responsible for about half of that.
I'm sticking by my prediction that at E3 2012 we'll see the unveiling of the 360 successor, while Sony will concentrate on the Vita and the PS3 lineup and then hold a seperate press event later in the year where they will unveil the PS4 with a holiday 2013 worldwide launch.
I'm ready for it any time now, I just don't see why they would talk about the PS4 right when they're getting ready to release the Vita and when some of the biggest PS3 games are comin...
It has a solid install base it just needs games to push it.
I think the update for LittleBigPlanet 2 and Sorcery could help.
The only thing I ask is that they bundle it with the system so they don't split the userbase and make it optional. Don't force it down our throats.
I think they should go with a slightly redesigned DualShock 4 with a microphone built in for chatting with friends and voice recognition and then give the camera full body tracking and the ability to track the DualShock.
Make it a more connected, social experience and keep the price around $399 and it will be the best selling console next gen.
