Those systems are nothing alike. In XII you actually had control over your characters. You could tell them what to do and you could make them be anything you wanted. The level of freedom in character development in XII is something I have never seen any other game pull off. XIII on the other hand only gave you an illusion of choice in character development but in the end you are always forced into a certain mould. Crystarium is just a poor mask for linear character development.
Strangely enough, the Xbox 360 controller's face buttons aren't pressure sensitive, unlike the first Xbox's controllers. It's no crap.
*In before moaners who don't even own a PS3*
Wonder what's in store for PS+ owners this week. Far Cry 2, Sly HD & Trine 2 are waiting for me to finish MGS: PW so I can start playing them. All 3 games for free. :)
The voice acting in TTS sucks and the cutscenes are exaggerating, reminds of Matrix more than MGS. Also, nostalgia.
People always forget how awesome XII was and put it in the same category with XIII. Sure, it was quite lacking in the side quests too, but the level of customization and freedom in character development was the thing that made it so great. And even though it had a sort of auto battle too, it required you to be smart with your gambits and set ups, which is why it's nothing like XIII.
I'll take the original MGS1 over Twin Snakes on any given day and PW is included in the Xbox360 and PS3 versions. I'm glad I finally have MG, MG2, MGS1-4 & PW on one console. Only missing on Portable Ops and Ac!d but I've read their game scripts so I know their stories anyway.
@Patriots_Pride,
It won't take a $500-600 dollar console to be more powerful than Wii U. If Sony or MS would release a console with similar power they would still be cheaper than Wii U. Why? Because blu-ray drives don't cost that much anymore, neither does CELL (if Sony decides to keep it for the PS4). On the other hand, Wii U has a pretty expensive controller. So unless the PS4 and Nextbox are much, much more powerful than Wii U, they probably won't be that much ...
I forgot to mention I always complete the game at least once before I even check the trophy list. Then when I feel like I'm done with the game I put it away if I didn't like it or went for some or all trophies if I liked it enough.
Did you mean devices with still the same gaming limitations? And the answer to your question is: A touch screen will never be on par with buttons and analog sticks/discs. Also a separate controller kind of destroys the idea of an all-in-one device, and is an impractical solution to gaming on tablets and phones.
Where are the iGames "on par with Vita and 3DS?" which have been hyped over for what, 3 years now? Let me tell you where they are: they don't exist and t...
If I lived anywhere near the museum or even on the same continent, yes, but I happen to live in Finland, so unfortunately no.
Cool. MGS is my favourite series of all time. The story is deep, interesting and emotional. I remember the day when I first finished MGS3. Those final moments with The Boss actually made me shed a tear back then, which is something no other game, movie or book has accomplished.
To me they are a way of extending the time I spend on each game. Also getting a platinum for a game is a way of passively telling people "Hey, I liked this game enough to platinum it." Also it just feels good when you get a trophy, especially when you've been throuh hell to get it.
Hopefully they actually let us finish the matches this time.
Too bad, because maybe I would actully buy a RE2 remake.
I hear it's amazing when the famous purple stuffed worm in flap-jaw space with the tuning fork does a raw blink on Hara-kiri Rock. I need scissors! 61!
Why is it a bad thing to go after trophies when you would otherwise be done with the game? I don't see a problem here as long as enjoying the game comes first. I agree that some trophies are just plain stupid but that does not make the whole system bad.
@Fylus,
that's why trophies are tiered, even the smallest achievement is an achievement, all trophies don't have to be hard.
If I remember correctly, Rockstar has had a habit of releasing within 6-8 or 9 months after the game's official announcement. I sure hope they can keep up with that.
It's the developers and their greed, not MS who are the reason behind DLC. No casual gimmicky controllers without Xbox? EyeToy says hi! There was ads in Burnout 3 already so you can't completely blame it on Xbox, even though that problem is almost exclusive to Xbox. I don't like it either but they don't make me want Xbox to disappear. FB and YT apps coming to pretty much any device including consoles was inevitable. Even TVs have their own YT apps, is that MS's fault too? ...
MGS2 wasn't easy either. Beating the game on extreme and some of the VR missions we're a major pain in the ass.
Also Shadow of the Colossus' Hard Time Attack mode is pure madness, especially Colossi #3.
I wasn't surprised at all. I thought it was common knowledge that Retina displays are nothing special, just a fancy name on a regular display.
