I bet you MadCatz is already contemplating some sort of peripheral for this.
Crudely, it's a tactic that sites use to get hits. I was a little surprised to see IGN use it this way, but every writer is different.
As for the title itself, anyone with a brain who has been following the consoles on the internet knows that the PS3 is overall not last in Japan; so getting pissed off over a few paragraphs and a slightly ironic title is wasted energy. The title does not bother or annoy me. Apparently though, like Evo stated above, it has done its job.
Your comment was the voice of reason in a sea of increasingly irrational posts. I find it laughable how people get so offended by the title as if IGN just insulted their younger brothers. If they approached the article rationally, they'd notice that IGN indeed acknowledges just why Japanese were hesitant to buy a PS3 this week.

I agree. The maps rape very well. Day 1 for me as well.
I bought my 60gb around launch. Surely the PS3 is a better deal now, but would it be logical to wait almost three years for $300 to be cut, watching fantastic games coming out and not being able to play them?
Above everything else, I think Naughty Dog created a very special character with Drake. He's witty and a little sardonic sometimes, but has good morals. He's not perfect, he stumbles a lot and struggles, yet is always heroic and dependable. Overall, a very likable character. I can't wait to see what he goes through this time.
I thought it was supposed to be a 160gb with like 145 or so left over.
Edit: Nevermind, I confused myself with numbers. It's listed as 120gb, so I guess the 97gb we get is fairly reasonable.
I'm with you Dragon. I, as many will agree, love that tiny beep that accompanies the subtle action of lightly resting your finger on the surface for a split second before hearing the orchestral tune opening up. It was a nice little 'touch' to an aesthetically pleasing design.
Me neither. It's a good feature and I no longer have a PS2. I'd rather purchase an additional slim instead of selling my BC, shiny 60GB model.
It looks somewhat plain without the silver chrome strip and the "PLAYSTATION 3" spider-man font. Doesn't look like it can stand vertically either. Nonetheless, it comes for a good price. :)
yay!

cutie
You put it nicely in perspective how videogames are perceived artistically. Personally, I think it will take decades until videogames are accepted as a form of art because of the nature of developing and distributing games and the size of the market.
A game critically acclaimed for its artistic merits will more than likely have a hard time selling, whereas a movie that's critically acclaimed is more likely to gross AT LEAST double the production budget (Pan's Labyrinth, Brokeback...
Perhaps you like the storyline and the 80's music and setting more, but there is no denying that San Andreas improved upon all of the gameplay aspects in addition to adding SO much more to do after the game was over. It also introduced jets, jetpacks, and swimming, all of them incorporated into the storyline offering some of the best missions in a GTA game.
No other GTA has as many varied missions or as many things to do when the game is over as in GTA: SA. In fact, San Andreas is the accumulation of all of the great ideas in GTA III and Vice City, improved upon and rolled up into the most vast and expansive open world Rockstar has ever created. To say it was the worst of the 3 means only that you disliked the characters and the setting because they improved upon all other aspects.
400 dollars is about 280 euros.
It's adorable. It's nice that the menus and interactions aren't too complicated. Just a thought, but imagine if Natal imitated this. You'd be able to give it a name and issue it voice commands, that would be pretty cool.
It'd be fun if everyone responded with 500-word essays.
I think this wins!
