Battlefield 3 + Modern Warfare 3= FPS Gaming Bliss
They can do it. All they have to do is find a way to mix large scale warfare with exciting and frenetic close quarters action. If they can do this, they'll manage to satisfy both the FPS gamers who prefer strategic gameplay and those who enjoy fast-paced twitch shooters. They came close in Bad Company 2. Now they have to take it all the way.
Bad Company games were developed with consoles in mind. Fewer players in online matches. Also notable for introducing the Frostbite Engine, which allows for destructible environments. Battlefield 3 looks to be a combination of the best ideas from the main Battlefield games and the Bad Company series.
If it looks half as good on consoles, gamers everywhere are in for a real treat.
That was actually a really good review. He detailed the games many features and his likes/dislikes about them. In fact, he puts many of our major gaming websites' reviewers to shame. Plus you gotta love the line "An empty barrel makes the most noise". Still, from what I played of Killzone 3, I'm certain that I'll enjoy it. I just wish other gamers would simply accept it for what it is and not look at it like it's supposed to be the end all, be all of shooters. That k...
I'm canceling my pre-order.
Kotick is a shrewd business man, and sooner or later the Call of Duty bubble will burst in his face. I like those games quite a bit, but they are becoming stagnant. Some other game will come along and become the hot new thing, and Kotick's whole business plan of capitalizing on one series' popularity will cost his entire company big time.
Really looking forward to this game. I hope it doesn't get delayed again.
Nice rundown of gameplay features. A good review.
I hope this game surprises me and turns out to be great. I love FPS games, but I'm feeling a bit fatigued with them lately. I was excited about Killzone 3 until the demo and Beta, which made the game seem routine (and dumbed down, but whatever). Still, I found the Bulletstorm demo to be shallow and repetitive. Here's to hoping I was wrong about that game.
While most sites have already published reviews, this guy delivers a preview that reveals nothing anybody who doesn't live under a rock has known for months. There is an open beta and a single player demo too, for crying out loud! How does stuff like that even get approved for this site? This guy doesn't offer a preview so much as piss and moan about how much he doesn't like the other Killzones...
The first one showed potential, but seemed to be rushed to compete with Black Ops. Hopefully EA will give Danger Close enough time to create an engrossing single player experience and exciting multiplayer mode (leave Dice to Battlefield).
Too bad the demo ended. It was pretty fun.
I like Call of Duty, but the series is growing stale. The idea of paying a monthly fee to play multiplayer that hasn't progressed since 2007 is ridiculous. With more technically advanced games like Battlefield 3 on the way, Kotick's subscription idea could very well be the nail in COD's coffin. Plus from a business perspective, who in their right minds would put everything they've got into one franchise? Once that bubble bursts, where do they go next?
Epic and People Can Fly are really running their mouths lately. They attack Call of Duty for being immature with their Duty Calls parody, and then label Halo and other shooters as repetitive. Do they not realize that the Bulletstorm demo is one of the most immature and repetitive games recently released?
I read the review and gathered he didn't like the story. When you review a game, you should explain its features in detail- both the good and the bad. He barely touched on the Move support- which is a pretty big deal if you ask me, nor did he adequately critique the 3D feature. How does the 3D stack up to other 3D games, like Black Ops? What about the jet packs, which were a pretty big deal in the previews?Or mechs? Do we get to pilot one, like in Killzone 2? I don't really know how t...
I'm not upset that he gave it an 8.5; I'm upset because he didn't tell me why. What a lousy review.
Guys who have made their careers by copying a better developer (Infinity Ward) really shouldn't be advocating for creativity. I can guarantee if Treyarch fell apart like Infinity Ward did, no major publisher, like EA, would be rushing to scoop them up. Wow, I feel like such a bastard for saying that, but Olin's comment just rubbed me the wrong way.
Yeah their opponents seemed to be functionally retarded haha
Don't put all your eggs into one basket.
