"and if it’s always bothered you that Spidey can somehow soar above the city, shooting webbing into thin air rather than swinging through it, you’ll be pleased to learn the web-head now attaches to actual objects in the environment." That's good to know, especially considering Treyarch fixed that ten years ago in Spider-Man 2... But seriously, I hope this game turns out great.
I bought the PS3 version for $15 right before Christmas, but enjoyed it so much that I'd consider buying this at a $40 price point if the game's performance was improved as much as its graphics were. Considering the article doesn't mention its frame rate at all, I'm guessing it hasn't been upgraded to 60fps.
I bought my copy back in November when I got my PS4 just because I thought it would be the premier next-gen launch game. Boy was I wrong! I knew there would be problems at launch especially since they were working with new consoles, but to release such a fundamentally broken piece of garbage is a stretch even for EA, despite the whole SimCity fiasco. Luckily I had the foresight to not open my copy. They've got until January 14th to fix the damn thing or it gets returned (gotta love extend...
Or just trying to. I can't update my 3DS at all :(
Good to hear. It was sold out at a few places near me too. Even though I get frustrated with Nintendo for some of their business decisions, they make great games and interesting consoles so I really want them to do well (I'm even posting this with my Wii U GamePad). An industry where everyone does well will only encourage stronger competition between the big three and benefit gamers in the long run.
While I'm sure there were fun moments on the Wii, you'd be hard pressed to find someone who remembers them outside of a very small niche audience, and even more so to find someone who could reasonably argue the artistic merits of those games in the same way one could discuss the narrative and thematic richness of games like Bioshock, Red Dead, and the Last of Us, just to name a few. The iconic moments that elevated and possibly even transcended the perceived limitations of the medium ...
Yup. Making matters worse is the fact that the most talked about game on the Wii U boards at Gamefaqs is Smash Brothers instead of the recently released Mario 3D World. Talking about a game that isn't even out yet more than the newest, most critically acclaimed title on a platform that is starving for hit games just doesn't make sense at all. I wonder if that says more about Nintendo or the fans it caters to?
Part of the problem is that many gamers, both casual and core, simply view Nintendo as a company that, at best, simply makes games for children, and at worst, has not been relevant for at least half a decade. Think back on this generation's most iconic moments: you're first time seeing Rapture and experiencing the "Would you kindly?" twist in Bioshock, the Chernobyl mission and nuclear explosion in Modern Warfare, leaving the vault and seeing the capital wasteland in Fallout...
This is the kind of game the Wii U needs to broaden its appeal to gamers seeking a more mature experience, myself included. I happened to love ZombiU and think it's a tragedy that Ubisoft dashed any hope for a sequel. Hopefully Eternal Darkness can fill that void and put the GamePad to good use while it's at it.
Not only is this article a desperate cry for attention, it is also one of the most poorly constructed pieces of writing I have seen in quite some time. Case in point: "Our duo can often take out a room of armed baddies without breaking a sweat and after getting shot over a dozen times--only have a small red blotch within eyesight for it whereas they can then duck for cover to recharge. However, the gory death scenes are spot on and make it seem like more of a penalty then most games.&quo...
The guy who wrote this article is a real clown. The in-game menus are indeed functional, albeit convoluted, and players are in fact able to switch between aiming with the new cursor + dot system or the traditional laser sight. While the game certainly has its issues, this guy really ought to get his facts straight before he decides to publish something.
Where the hell did he get those Watchmen Legos?!?
I didn't think I'd look forward to another CoD after MW3 but I have quite a bit of faith in Treyarch. While their games are never as technically polished as Infinity Ward's, they have a hell of a lot more heart. They also take creative risks with the property that keep things interesting even if they don't always work as well as they could have (CoD points, for example).
I could argue all day over whether you should need hundreds of spare hours to unlock everything or if you should have to pay to get them instead, but that's neither here nor there. The point of my initial comment is that DICE is talking out of its collective ass when it says it doesn't care about individuals, and I don't think that can really be disputed.
I really don't care either way. I'm sure BF2 didn't have paid unlocks though, which is a worse offense if you ask me. Too many things about this game and many of EA's recent titles feel blatantly commercialized.
DICE may claim to not care about individuals but they sure love to rent servers out to individuals who can create their own imbalanced games featuring ass-backwards rules.
While we're on the topic, DICE's overlords at EA certainly do care about individuals, which is why they emailed me a questionnaire asking why I don't play BF3 anymore. I replied that I wouldn't play again nor would I buy any more EA shooters until they start treating their customers with re...
I hope this game delivers; the FPS genre needs a good kick. With no real competition, COD has been able to comfortably grow stale with no repercussions. I hope this game changes that.
Beating a dead horse? Indeed.
Looks good for what it is, but it's simply another linear, military FPS. I wish they would show just a little more ambition.
You mean I can make the cars handle like they do in the regular Forza games? That's awesome. I want continuity between the two series; having one feel completely different would kind of confuse me.
