Yeah with BC for PS5 and Xbox 2, it seems silly to bring out all new versions of these current gen games. Why not just release patches for those games instead and avoid the confusion?

Imo only 2 Kart Racers rival Mario and those are Crash Team Racing and Mod Nation Racers. Sonic Team Racing is an "also ran" kart racer.
The problem is it hasnt moved forward as fast and as far as it should have, considering how long it's been around. Pokemon has stagnated with little ambition or innovation. Sun and Shield look like glorified 3DS games. Where is the production value?
Then explain to me how single player games are still coming out at 59.99 that have no microtransactions or loot boxes.
