I'm also really looking forward to trying the new Dualsense features. On top of this, I raided the ole piggy bank for the 3d Pulse headset & I'm eagerly anticipating seeing how the developers scare me half to death, hearing monsters creeping up on me from all directions. Yikes!
I'm not going to indulge in resolution wars shenanigans. I will, however say, that I'm very excited that the developers are utilising the new features, such as super fast loading times, 3D audio and haptic trigger feedback. The addition of 4k with ray tracing into the mix makes me a happy chappy.
May I ask, as I've got a set of these ordered & if you've had the chance to test it, how does the headset perform with media applications, ie Spotify, YouTube video or a Blu Ray film?
HDR implemented properly can make a massive difference to the viewing experience. I am lucky enough to have the LG 77 oled C9 & yes, the black levels are incredible but my Philips 4k ambilight is no slouch either as it comes with hdr, hdr 10+ & Dolby vision as standard. The 42 inch philips is approximately £499.
Crumbs, I'm reading through the comments, & It's all gamer politics and allegations of bias from all sides, & no mention whatsoever of the absolutely spectacular Spidey game that will be in our hands, in only a few short weeks.
The game looks better & better every time I see it. Whizzing through the buildings looks an incredible addition.
Really looking forward to putting the new Dualsense controller through it's paces, testing the...
It's great news & a relief to find out that it indeed has an HDMI 2.1 port. (see titaniums link above).
I'm not the most technically minded when it comes to these things, & as I had not yet found confirmation, I was getting worried that perhaps HDMI 2.1 would be a feature that Sony would release in a later firmware update. My TV can breathe a sigh of relief.
Many thanks to you nice, kind folks for answering my questions.
Brilliant stuff & many thanks Titanium. That's great news.
I have my PS5 ordered, by I just find it curious that there is no mention of HDMI 2.1 on the box, plus on the official breakdown video of the PS5, there was only mention of HDMI but not 2.1.
The development team at Dirt 5 have mentioned that the PS5 version is capable of 120 fps, which would lead you to believe it's 2.1 capable. Which is why I find it very odd, that with only a matter of weeks to go, this has still not been officially confirmed.
Is the HDMI cable contained within the box 2.1? Also, has there been any confirmation from Sony to confirm that the hdmi port is 2.1? I don't see them mentioning this on their branding.
Got my PS5 Pre-order in early on 17th Sept, and I should get it, hopefully on release day, fingers & everything else crossed. Raided the ole piggy bank & also got Miles Morales ultimate edition, Demon Souls & Watch Dogs Legion. My final games related purchase was Sony PS5 3d Pulse headset. Would have got Cyberpunk, but I'm waiting until it's fully patched & optimized for the new hardware.
As the generation progresses & the current gen gets phased out & the development studios prioritize optimum performance from the upcoming consoles, I would hope that many more titles have a 120 option.
If your searching for a new HDMI 2.1 capable TV, I highly recommend the LG Oled C9. It's mind blowing for both movies & games. The reason I mention the C9 is that it's LG's 2019 model & it's pretty much the same visual quality as LG's 2020 ...
Brilliant stuff thanks. I hadn't ever heard of hue bulbs before. Just did a quick internet search & they look just the very job. I have ordered two Philips hue bulbs. Thanks again for the info.
Many thanks to all the wonderful folks above on here at N4G for the replies to my question. Happy gaming to all.
I'm doing exactly the same. Completed the game and would love to jump straight back into this new game+ as the game is spectacular, but like you dsammy, I'm going to wait till I get my PS5 next month, to play it again in glorious up to 60 fps, with perhaps a resolution boost as well. Great to hear that the online content is top notch.
That's a cracking tv, I also have one. HDR 10+, Dolby Vision & Atmos. The ambilight feature is awesome.
That's good advice. I scrimped, saved & raided the piggy bank and got the LG C9 in February this year. The C10 is available now, but I'm sure with flagship models or black Friday deals, you might get a cracking deal on a hdmi 2.1 set, or wait till next year for further price drops.
If the truth be told, I'm seeing that sacrifices visually have to be made by the developers to get the games to take advantage of 120 fps. It's a nice feature to have, but I&...
I'm really hoping that the PSN store gets upgraded with 4k movies to either rent or purchase.
Also of note --- this information is for folks in the UK --- Friday 16 Oct - Latest - Currys (£89.99 Pre-Order) currently have stock of PS5 Pulse 3D Headset.
Many thanks for the reply and letting me know Xtremely. Never heard of the website monoprice, had a look and very impressed.
My TV is capable of taking advantage of HDMI 2.1. Do we know yet if the new consoles will be bundled with HDMI 2.1 cables as standard in the box, or do we have to purchase them separately?
I agree, for me, The Last Of Us 2 was the biggest let down of the generation, for exactly all the reasons you mentioned above.
I can fully appreciate from a technical point, the game is a stellar achievement. It just wasn't the sequel that I wanted, in any way, shape or form. This is coming from someone who has platinumed Part 1 twice, on regular & PS4 Pro remaster & considers the title a game of the gen.
Druckmann created a depression simula...
