I should have been more suspicous when they didn't release a demo or show any gameplay videos whatsoever until a few days before release.
It seems as if the whole production of the game was shrouded in secrecy. More so than was neccessary at least and definitely more so than any other big scale game at the time.
But the thing that annoys me most is that I feel I was mislead by the majority of reviews out there.

I don't think you have to subscribe. You can just buy a single issue and last I checked it costs under $10 US?.
It reminds me of the days back when I used to have to buy PS1 & PS2 magazines so that I could get the demo discs.

Is it just me or has the quality of japanese rpgs been getting worse and worse lately? Square-Enix is going to have to kick things up a notch with Final Fantasy XIII if they hope to compete for my rpg gaming dollar against upcoming western stuff like Fallout 3.

You end up spending quite a lot of money on these things every generation when you think about all of the accessories and peripherals (extra controllers, chargers etc) you end up buying on top of the system itself.

Exclusives are pretty much the most important factor in choosing a game console and they always will be.
For me at least, it goes something like this:
1. Reliability
2. Games
3. Controller
4. Power (graphics)
5. Features
6. Price
Regardless of how you prioritize the other stuff, I think pretty much every gamer would agree that exclusives are very important.
Translation: We don't care about exclusives, just so long as the competition doesn't have any.
None of the trees break in the demo. Not even a monster truck breaks through them. I'm talking about the small trees too.
The towers don't break either. I was expecting them to break after seeing it happen in the target trailer.
Pretty much the only destructible stuff I've found are the barrels and stacks of tyres that they have deliberately scattered around the track for that purpose.
I hope there is more stuff to smash in the full game.
