I'm still unsure of this title. Granted, all I have seen of it is the E3 trailer and a few snippets here and there so there may be more to it, but so far, I see a very intriguing premise that ultimately is just a 3rd person shooter with a gimmick.
Don't get me wrong, the hacking portion looks awesome with a lot of potential, and when the trailer started I got really excited about it. However at the end, instead of using the hacking ability to cause an accident to ta...
I don't mind new features, but the focus has shifted from the games themselves.
But hey, as long as the masses can get their Call of Duty or Halo fix over XBox Live (or whatever service it will be), no one cares if there are any other games available on the machine.
Not sure if any of the company's will do any better. At least my old consoles still play just fine.
Aside from my poor internet (which will hopefully be fixed this June), my primary issue of always on-line isn't down times in the birthing pains of the service or games. It's the future.
My concern is what happens 5-10 years down the road when servers for games get shut down or the next gen console comes onto the scene? What plans are there to make it so the games I spend hundreds of dollars on will still be able to be played?
I can still plug in ...
It is disappointing that third party engines aren't going to be on the system, especially since Unreal 4 is going to be able to be scaled to mobile devices. How it will work for an IPad but not the WiiU confuses me, and having everyone laughing when asked is insulting, but hey, whatever.
What's really frustrating is that third parties continue to blame Nintendo fans for lack of success on Nintendo systems. Now, part of this is based in fact (aka Madworld), but a big...
There are great comments here and other places on what constitutes as good or bad extra content. I wish more publishers listened to the potential within them.
In regards to the article, I think the major issue the author missed from Bleszinski's blog is the only reason DLC exists is because people buy it.
I'm not saying it justifies what some companies do, and there are better options, but the point remains they wouldn't do it if it wasn...
Gearbox is a talented studio, but this game's failure rests primarily on them. Creatively, I can understand wanting to pursue other projects that interest you more. But eventually, you have to sit down and do the job you were paid to do. Passing the buck because you can't manage your time and to keep shifting priorities is unprofessional and makes it impossible to craft a cohesive experience. They should have at least given strict guidelines to what they wanted Time Gate to do. I...
Insightful article, well put together with concise points.
Right now, micro-transactions are optional to the game and not a huge issue. Appealing to a wider market at the expense of the fans is terrible from a creative and maybe even moral viewpoint, but it is financial beneficial to a business. Do I think this game is going to be absolutely terrible? No, I think there will be people (Like with Resident Evil 6) who defend it blindly and refuse to admit anything is wrong with it, and others who hate it out of principle.
The core an...
An interesting article that brings up a good point. We love to see the next Zelda. For many it is the primary reason they purchase a Nintendo console and wait through the many dry spells.
But Nintendo does always use it as bait. They always say 'we're working on it.' Even if (like possibly Skyward Sword), it is a lie only used to prevent riots. I think the sad part is we keep falling for it. We get annoyed and fed up with how Nintendo does business... and t...
I actually wouldn't mind seeing another 4 Swords type since I didn't get the chance to play the earlier two properly.
But for a main entry, I would prefer it to remain single player. I am not against the option to have a co-op campaign. While I loved Skyrim as a solo adventure, my brother and I are waiting to play through again because someone is working on a multi-player mod for PC. Done well, the co-op could add replay value. Again though, it has to be optional...
Nice to see a strong showing from Nintendo after several rather lack-luster E3's. These games show a great deal of promise, and make me much more impatient in getting a WiiU. However, I would still need to see some dates before a purchase.
I will say the only thing(s) that are underwhelming concern Zelda (which hurts me to admit). While the HD Wind Waker is gorgeous, unless they add some extras I can't justify it when my Gamecube copy is sitting on a shelf.
I was always a fan of the Ocarina/Majora look (realistic but stylized and colorful). I did really like Skyward Sword's look though (probably the only complete compliment I can give that game). I think overall, a realistic environment is great but needs vibrant colors. However, characters should always maintain a certain animated appearance.
I apologize. I did make a complex issue too simple by labeling it as good and evil. I still stand by the core aspects of my points (although they should be clarified and expanded). However, I understand where you are coming from even if I don't completely agree with it. Regardless, N4G is not the right environment for a major debate.
I find it humorous that the NRA uses the same argument against video games as the anti-gun front uses on them and no one sees the correlation.
The fact is neither side wants to admit that people will do something evil for evil's sake. No one is willing to blame someone for their own terrible choice. Everyone wants to believe that if we take away any potentially negative influence or make it harder to execute the horrors will stop. People ignore that just as much dama...
As a reboot/spinoff released parallel to another iteration of original series, I'd guess people wouldn't be so against this game. However, the very real risk of not getting the traditional 5, regardless of this game's success or failure, is probably fueling a lot of hatred. If it sells well, Capcom will think this new style is the way to go. If it bottoms out, they'll say no one wants Devil May Cry anymore. They aren't exactly good differentiating quality and sales num...
Even though there are a lot a variables Google can't take into account, it is still interesting how it came up with its figures.
I like most of the points brought up by the article, though I wish there had been a little more depth/examples.
I have a lot more faith in Retro than I do the guys at Nintendo headquarters. I think Retro are the only ones that could develop a game that matches the quality of the series N64 titles.
I'd love to see this or any other streets of rage game become a reality. However, the video shown (while pretty) didn't really make me feel confident about the combat. Yes, it looked deeper than past games, but it also looked slower, like I would have had issues with poor responsiveness. Hopefully, I would have been wrong though, but unfortunately, we may never find out.
I didn't care for RE6. However, this review was excellent in both polish and explanation. It makes you respect her opinion even if you disagree with some points.
An interesting piece, and a question I asked myself repeatedly until I finally stopped purchasing new games entirely.
I think to really delve into this issue would require for more than a simply reply or blog post (more like a mid-length essay). There are many factors for why people could be upset, just as there are many factors for why many find this generation to be the best. I've thought about going in and really writing it out in detail, but figured I was just old...
