Actually Gearbox has stated numerous times that duke nukem forever was 95% finished when they got their hands on it.
But I do know what you mean, that we ought to look at it as a game with a development time of four years and not thirteen because the game that DNF thirteen years ago sure as hell ain't the game we're gonna be (hopefully) getting in (also hopefully) June.
It'd be a hell of a treat if all those sort of beta and alpha builds of DNF ...
June 4th. For fuck sake it was plastered all over the damned web that it was delayed, do your research. Despite that though this article still makes a few good points.
This is what games journalism is meant to be. Simple and well written. The focus is almost always the game and informing us of the game's content. When the writer does give an opinion it's quick and as neutral as can be.
Nice to see a change from the usual childish bullshit that permeates games journalism. From "Game X, ps3 vs 360, which looks better?", to "Popular Game X sucks giant dick, here's why" and worst of all... "are video games ...
Ah I love this game, starts out with a four by four hut and ends in a fuckin' series of floating islands connected together with a (soon to be powered and fully automated) train line.
I wish notch would do more construction themed addons though. Dyes and wolves are more just pretty and aesthetic, I'd like features like seasons which could genuinely affect gameplay and harvesting. Powered rails is a step in the right direction, boosters were gonna have to go eventually...
Assassins creed 2 -> "the setting of ancient Rome is inviting and entrenching."
Ya know shit like that may get away with a technicality vote but renaissance Italy isn't exactly what comes to mind when somebody says ancient Rome.
Just sayin'.
Homefront, was, and always will be nothing but an embarassing attempt by the third rate publisher THQ to catch up in the most incompetent fashion imaginable with the Call of Duty phenomena.
What I will say though is this, I've no doubt in my mind that the developers of this game are hard working and extremely talented. I doubt they walked into their office one day and went 'I can't be arsed to make a real game, let's just copy and paste modern warfare 2's...
I'm still a little bitter about fable II remaining exclusive to be honest. Well between that and the fact that moleyneux's little 'white lies' like to walk the line between boasting and false advertising is also a little concerning.
I was a big fan of the first one, to be fair it had a great sense of humour and a wonderfully fun atmosphere. A nice breath of fresh air in a time where ninety nine per cent of games feature angst anti heroes who wear hoods and sh...
Or what, you'll say something nasty?
I liked doom 3, and so did a lot of people. You wanna make a valid point then take the time to do so but don't think you're doing anything but looking like a complete and utter fucking jackass by shitting all over a decent game that got good reviews and sold quite well.
Here's a lesson shit piece, you got a fucking opinion then you better be prepared to flex your thinking muscles and utilize ALL of your six...
*sigh*
Stfu.
Does the game feature a function that removes all memory of the film?
Although seriously I have a hard on for this game, we need a trailer.
Bioware promises less spoilers and then I read "TIM is sending his top agents to take you down."
Ah right then... so I see we're no longer with cerberus and clearly the illusive man is an antagonist.
And I lost my me1 save and as a result had to stick with the default. Bioware should include a questionnaire at the beginning that allows you to run through the major decisions of the first two games so you don't get burdened with the default c...
The portrayal of men in video games is as equally warped as its portrayal of women. Most of the games with fantastic and unrealistic depictions of female characters often also follow through with equally stupid depictions of men, because we all look like duke nukem, marcus fenix, and kratos right?
The majority of movies have ridiculously over-beautiful portrayal of women as well, and just as that form of media has highs and lows in its approach to women so do video games. On ...
The portrayal of men in videogames is as equally warped and unfair as the portrayal of women (it was only yesterday I stealthily slipped into a military base and punched a man so hard in the back of his head he fell unconcsious for however long I felt like being in that particular area). If we allow ourselves to get bogged down in this political correctness bullshit soon we won't be allowed to have any fun characters whatsoever because SOMEONE will be offended.
Frankly I...
Well there goes the idea that people make a game in order to make a good game. This is a very bad omen for this game, even if it does come out as 10/10 it'll just be another monolith which will harm the games industry.
Good lord I can't handle another few years of hearing "what'll be the new *INSERT FRANCHISE HERE* killer?"
"I dont see the value in maps that cost 1200msp..."
Actually I disagree, I see plenty of value in these map packs.
They'll help me distinguish those who need to be 'culled' from the genetic pool when I come to power in 2046 and initiate 'Operation: Twat Removal'.
I seriously hope the guy who wrote this article is living off food vouchers because he deserves to be. This article is the most unoriginal and pointless piece of cliche fuel thrown onto the great big 'where does duke nukem stand in the modern day era' fire I've ever seen.
Setting aside the fact that its only ever women who are portrayed in an unrealistic fashion in games (I myself look like arnold schwarzenegger on steroids and frequently punch aliens to death al...
Really impressive, I hope this is a better outing for them than ET quake wars.
My concern isn't that the game will be linear and hence bad, what concerns me is that the head of a games development company could be so blind as to dismiss a HUGE section of the gaming market as 'boring, HARDCORE, hard to get into and not very popular'.
A) GTA4, assassins creed, fallout, oblivion, stalker, borderlands, red dead, red faction guerilla and countless others are all great examples of open world enjoyable games.
b) Hardcore... let m...
I loved Kane and lynch, both, so yeah... I'm chuffed with this result. Although between hitman 5 and k&l3 I'd still pick hitman.
I understand what the author is saying here but it shows a seriously narrow misunderstanding of what art means. Art basically refers to attempts to communicate a message or feeling that is for all intents and purposes too difficult to communicate through traditional means. It basically touches on the idea that the methodology of HOW the message is communicated is as vital as the message itself.
So defining from here on in what constitutes art gets really messy. Because Jersey...
