Any news about Alan Wake or Gears of War 2 is anything but disappointing.

Those are going to be landmark games, and we all know it.

Sony doesnt "own" BR son.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...

"founded in May 2002 by nine leading electronic companies: Sony, Matsushita, Pioneer, Philips, Thomson, LG Electronics, Hitachi, Sharp, and Samsung. Spearheaded by NP Infotech, on February 19th 2002 the companies announced [2] that they were the "Founders" of the Blu-ray Disc and later changed their name ...

Digital Download for the win.

Half of the traffic on the internet is P2P Music, TV and Movie traffic *today*.

Anyone who thinks that we're not ready for Digital Download is kidding themselves. I've long since stopped buying plastic discs, I get everything I want on the net.

The MPAA and RIAA are going to do everything they can to monetize that traffic. The reason people do this isnt because they dont want to spend $2 or $3, its because it is vast...

"Sony won't stop anyone from making a blu-ray player, because they'll collect royalties. It's anything but "public domain." More like a cash cow for Sony."

BluRay isnt anymore "owned" by Sony than HD-DVD is "owned" by Toshiba.

Both are the product of working-groups of technology firms. Neither is "exclusive" to one firm.

"Sony, Matsushita (Panasonic), Pioneer, Philips, Thomson, LG Electronics,...

It isn't "stereotyping" it is modern demographic collection. These are things that Mac users told the analysts about themselves.

@2.3

I've used FreeBSD and GNU/Linux for nearly 10 years professionally. It is a fine and cheap alternative to enterprise UNIX, and that is where it will do fine (discrete single-purpose processes), but as an integrated, multi-purpose desktop? OSX doesnt hold a candle to XP and certainly not to Vista. ...

I could have told you that. Anyone who derives pride and presitge from over-paying fits the bill perfectly.

Its like some Tart at the mall paying $125 for a Tshirt because it says "Brand" (whatever) on the front.

Same behaviour. Same pretentious asshole.

We all know that GTAIV will be a massive game. Very very big.

What did the guy say?

"We believe that the value-add of having additional premium content for Grand Theft Auto on our box will certainly be a sales driver for the console."

Very simple, clear and not excited at all. He's saying MS wants to align themselves as well as they can.

That is why they are running the pre-order contest and why they've struck a deal with...

" system that has been out for 2 years can possibly run out of consoles? "

What about Nintendo? You buy their shortage? The Wii is easily a vastly simpler / cheaper product, Nintendo has been making consoles for 20 years.

You buy Nintendo's line, but not willing to buy it when MS says the same thing? Me thinks you may be harbouring some irrational hate of MS?

Whenever I am in a store that sells the Xbox 360, I always go and check the s...

The MS guys said:
"We believe that the value-add of having additional premium content for Grand Theft Auto on our box will certainly be a sales driver for the console."

Which is a very reasonable and modest statement. Nice and polite. And, I would say, 100% totally accurate.

No need to get all excited about it. None of us is really prepared to say "Less GTAIV" is better are we?

"sony will advertise GTAIV"

I cant imagine you are correct. I believe that the Publisher and Developer is responsible for marketing.

What makes you think otherwise? Sony doesnt pay to advertise 3rd party titles. The industry just doesnt work that way.

When you see that series of "exploding black consoles" the ones with that garrish rock music, what titles do they advertise? That's right, its all first par...

"DMC4 looks better and runs faster on the PS3, "

It has been REPEATEDLY demonstrated that you are 100% incorrect. On this *very* website.

And, we've also seen storys that tell us the DMC4 mandatory 20+ 5GB install does not improve the load times.

What are you talking about?

"it really makes me wonder whether developers are just lazy or not? "

Can we *please* stop saying this? It is ridiculous. Developers -- the ones who write the code -- are not "lazy". The Developer has accountants, and those accountants keep budgets.

If spending money on Developer's to wrestle with the PS3's esoteric design is in the budget, it happens. Otherwise, it doesn't.

It has *NOTHING* to do with lack of motivation and...

1. MS has not stated a failure rate since the beginning of 2006. Have you forgotten Peter Moore's famous "its a moving target so I'm not going to respond to that"? So how could they be sued for lying?
They have said 3-5%. This article is saying it is less than what Square claims. That is pretty clear to me.

2. They put aside 1 frickin' billion dollars for repairs. At $100 a repair that is 10 million system repairs.
If you think it costs $100 to repair ...
