How I wish Insomniac or some other dev hired by Sony reboots/remakes the 1st Resistance. R1 was challenging for an FPS--a thing rarely seen in most FPS games these days.
RotTR is its own game; however, you can't deny that it borrows heavily from not just Uncharted, but also The Last of Us for its crafting mechanic. I may not buy RotTR for 60 dollars just to vote with my wallet against the bad move made by SE a year ago, but it's still a great game. In terms of preference, I like Uncharted way more than the rebooted TR.
We already knew the voice cast of RotTR a year ago. Unless they did a recast. Didnt' think so.
It could become a yearly franchise if they pull off another Xbox exclusivity. For example: 2017 sees the release of TR3 on XboxOne; then, in 2018 the same game (with all the DLCs, zombie mode, and VR support) releases on the PS4. 2019 TR4 releases on the XboxOne; then in 2020 the same game (with all the DLCs, zombie mode, and VR support) releases on the PS4. Frustrating isn't it?
Whatever earns you free publicity for Rise of the Tomb Raider: 1-year Release After the Xbox Version Edition, SE. Whatever earns you free publicity...
So RotTR: 20yC PS4's release is important for SE and Crystal Dynamics this year, but it wasn't last year when it was exclusive to the Xbox platform? Shivering...
I have decided. I will not buy this game until I get a clear confirmation that the third installment in this Tomb Raider reboot will release first on Sony's console, or at least simultaneously on all consoles!
Terrible story ending? I guess the PS4 version has a different ending? If it doesn't, then why wasn't this PS4 con an XboxOne con a year ago? Anyway, scores don't matter to me for this game, since I'm not buying it!
There's nothing that incredible about the bundled DLCs, coop and VR support. If they included a playable demo of TR3 exclusive to Sony for 1 year, then I'll reconsider. And no, this will never feel like a new release to the learned such as myself!
I'll buy this game for sure. DQ: Builders is actually a spin-off sequel of sorts, which intrigues me!
I will get this game someday. Emphasis on "get", which does not necessarily mean "purchase". I will only purchase this game if it goes way below 30 dollars. Otherwise, I will wait for a PS+ instant game collection version. Sorry, CD, but you've made your decision. I just made mine...
If I wait 1 more year will the file size diminish? And yes, I'm still bitter. Lol!
I am planning to buy a new game this month. I was determined to buy Dark Souls 3, being a DS fan since Demon's Souls; however, I know DS3 will release as a GoTY title somewhere down the road, so I think I will buy DQ: Builders instead.
Good questions. I thoroughly enjoyed both demos, so this game is day-one purchase for me. February 2017 is gonna be an expensive month with the release of Nioh, Persona 5 and Horizon: Zero Dawn!
Honestly, Xbox only gamers should know by now that the PS brand always receives a great wealth of exclusives. I know the XboxOne has in store great exclusives, such as Gears 4 and Scalebound, but I'm just so content with the PS consoles (from PSX to PS4) in terms of exclusives, that point #3 on this list will not tide me over. As a gamer, when I look at the breadth of exclusive experiences only available on the PS4, I just can't ask for more!
Point #1 is kinda point...
It's nice that Sony has another PR specialist in the guise of Phil Spencer. You know what they say: negative publicity is still publicity. I don't dislike Phil; however, all this talk of the competition good or bad is telling that, yeah, the competition is waaay ahead of you. Good on you, Sony!
This game is such a classic. It's sad that the AC series took away most of its thunder. I hope PoP devs revive the series. I want to climb, wall run, slide and rappel again!
Yeah, games back in the early 2000s didn't hold your hand most of the time, which gave people the opportunity to self discover. These days, many games tell you what to do and where to go in a "very" linear experience!
No matter what SE does in promoting this game, many core gamers will be busy playing other games in October and passing up RotTR: 20YC. I suggest you guys wait for a price cut before getting this game, considering Black Friday is not too far off on this game's release.
Doesn't matter, the PS brand will always satisfy and surprise me with a variety of games, both third party and exclusive!
