On Game Pass
"For me, Cyberpunk 2077 was the promise of the next generation of choice, simulation, and interactivity."
It was?? I for one was not expecting nor hoping that. I just enjoyed Witcher 3 and hoped this would be a similarly-enjoyable game, but set in a cool setting and with some upgraded mechanics and such. I don't recall CDPR ever promising a "next generation of choice, simulation, and interactivity." But maybe I missed it.
After reading the review, it says to me, "this game is a 7 out of 10 when it was reviewed, and will likely be a 10/10 by the time you play it." So that's fine.
(whisper voice) I think he is also hoping to get this quote included in marketing materials...
This of course is the dilemma of all art that is, ultimately, a corporate product: whether to truly make a radical artistic and political statement, or merely employ and commodify the aesthetic and superficial aspects of a culture, ie. "tokenism." I haven't played the game yet, but from what I've seen it is at the very least a bold visual statement and that alone makes it important artistically.
This game is awesome and it's on Gamepass so it's a no-brainer if you haven't played it yet.
This game looks to have some really great stories, both in the Main Quest and what will likely be tons of side quests. Plus, combat is apparently only one way to play; there’s a hacking style in which you can achieve objectives without fighting or not fighting all the time. Plus I don’t see myself driving that much; in The Witcher 3 I honestly ran/fast travelled to most locations, I didn’t ride Roach much.
Yeah the title is a bit misleading. It's just codes for console bundles. I don't see them eliminating codes altogether yet, I mean how would that even work?
I like the news that it will be no longer so easy to fail a mission. I failed multiple missions in Witcher 3 without even meaning to, just getting a random message saying I failed it without knowing what I did or didn't do to cause it.
Oof. But I can't argue with what it says.
Xbox One X and S - combined 53 units sold! Lol
How to find Leif?! Walk outside. He’s right there! Lol
Lol wut
Did you get the Cherry Blossom lantern? That was actually really cool and I plan on putting them all over my island. I’d be will big to give you Cherry Blossom items if that’s possible.
The Bunny Day outfits were garbage. And the final “prize” blew.
I betcha there’s a lot of people who will buy extra Switches so they can play their own village, and i betcha Nintendo knows that and is counting on it.
To regain trust from gamers, Bethesda has to start by being honest. They've been playing it like, "we thought people wanted X, but it turns out they want Y. So ok, we hear you, we'll give you Y." That's NOT why Fallout 76 sucked at launch.
First off, it was broken, because Bethesda has been releasing broken games for a while now and people still bought them, so they figured they'd get away with it again.
It lacked content -- no...
Ironically, while this article anticipates the rise of a "Netflix of gaming" that brings publishers into one platform, the TV/movie streaming industry is actually moving in the other direction and fragmenting again, with the once-unchallenged Netflix losing its control as content creators (Disney for example) move to carve out their own direct streaming services. That is the true long-term trend for gaming as well, I believe. Game publishers will each establish their own services an...
The article says it "only" sold 80,000 copies but that is a surprisingly large number considering how universally condemned it was, and has been. It was designed to exploit shock and controversy to sell units and to some extent it succeeded.
I don't see any shills giving anything a free pass. It is a promising title that even the harshest reviews are saying is a great game, but it has some major bugs right now. That's what I am hearing.
