That first big dilemma in Outer Worlds was tough. I sat there for like 10 minutes deciding!
As they say, “Smitches get Switches”
It isn't really politics, it's money. AAA mainstream games are made by massive corporations. Corporations care ONLY about making money. Right now, they feel that adding in characters who are gay, trans, or people of color will translate into positive PR, and hence more sales and more money. Period. And right now, they're making money by the fistful. If they felt that doing the opposite would make them more money, they would do the opposite. That goes for games, movies, TV, and eve...
The story here is a flawed business model as much as the technical issues. You still have to pay FULL PRICE for every game even on top of a pretty pricey subscription fee (!), those full priced games are mostly very old, and you're still shelling out over $100 for the controller etc. Even if the streaming was flawless, I would still not touch this.
The problem is more Google than streaming, I suspect. They just don’t think things through, and then don’t support their products adequately, and then often they just pull the plug and walk away. Which doesn’t bode well for Stadia’s future.
OMG why can't we all just
@ Necrum and @UnHoly - Oh my god well then it's 24/7 theft for me from now on!
The post is not about whether you morally "should" steal, but whether you'll pay a price if you do, ie. will NPCs shoot you on sight and so forth.
"Gringo" is there.
Also "pederasta" lol.
Do NPCs have to actually witness you in the act? Like, can I take stuff from a close-door room and no NPCs will notice it missing? Because I've been avoiding stealing, thinking that they might "know" I stole somehow.
Ah, the old "go against the current to get a reaction" article. I was waiting for one of these to come out.
How can Bethesda be so tone deaf? How could they not know this would be a horrible idea?? It's mind boggling.
History has shown that it's better to delay a game than to release it in a broken or substandard state.
Fallout First is a bad move? That's a bold stance. Next you'll tell me water is wet.
I think it's just the last straw in what has been a long pattern for Bethesda, honestly. They took an already-established IP, Fallout, and gave it a makeover with their Elder Scrolls-style skin (Fallout 3). Not really creative or original, and remember lots of old-school Fallout fans hated what they called the "amusement park" that Bethesda had turned their beloved PC game into. Then, with Fallout 4 they essentially re-released Fallout 3 with a pretty lazy narrative and otherwis...
This was a full-priced game. And now they are telling people who paid full price that they have to have a subscription, after the fact? Isn't that actually illegal in some way??
Can't wait to play this and erase the stain of shame I still carry from Fallout 4, when I shot my own son on his deathbed.
@AnubisG: (1) actually yes it legally is the bar's fault. They are not supposed to serve you enough to get drunk -- it's not enforced until something happens like a drunk driving tragedy, but it is technically the law. (2) even if it wasn't, if a guy gets drunk in a bar every night for a year, loses his job and sells his stuff to pay for more booze, and the bar knows it? Yes it is their fault at that point, morally as well. You should not profit from addiction.
I hesitate now to buy older-ish games on sale because PS Plus might give them away free right after, and I’d feel pretty dumb
