Yep. It just is. Intentionally making something worse than it can be is unacceptable. Period.
This has been mishandled badly.
I fully support Sony (and pretty much all game brands actually) but this is not acceptable.
This game was a selling point for PS4 and PS+ at launch. They delayed.
Then the wording on "free" shifted around. The word "demo" was introduced. Rephrase it anyway you like, the original wording was "Ps+ Version" it's clearly been dialed back from that to a degree, at least in terms of ...
During the development of AC4:
"The beauty of working with Sony honestly on this console for this generation was the fact that it was built for the game developers. And to be really honest, Sony fixed all the issues that could have been there on the console and right now I think it's up to us; like we have a perfect jewel in our hand. It's up to us to push the bar and make it shine." -Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag associate producer Sylvain Trottier <...
Bought off by marketing deal. Preorder cancelled.
Try it again Ubisoft, lets see how many more of your games I cancel preorders for before they launch. Let's make a metagame out of it.
This looks so insanely good. Cannot wait.
That, and sales for D4 are so low right now, it's unclear if it's too unpopular to port or if porting it might be worth the gamble to potentially earn back dev costs...
Either way it looks intriguing, too bad it's gotten so little marketing.
This game seems set to take Wolfenstein's role. Last year trade show impressions massively underestimated that game and basically pre-reviewed it. Yet it is one of 2014's best games.
Solid month, for sure. Nicely done on improving these selections.
Yeah, the author also didn't really bother writing an article that makes sense.
How can an actual sales lead be "smoke and mirrors?"
That term refers to something which is not real, or more specifically something which is not real which is masked to appear real.
Sales momentum has an effect on future sales and developer relationships. Current sales represent cashflow and profits...how is any of this smoke and mirrors?
@BattleAxe
...based on playing...their games...
This game is getting full on reviewed based on tradeshow impressions.
This is insane.
You know what? I'm going to reserve my opinion.
I was hyped for Wolfenstein and almost every preview made me question that. They almost all said it was boring and frustrating.
Flash forward a few months and it turns out Wolfenstein was absolutely incredible.
So, we'll see. Still buying it, personally.
The length is fine...
This game has forced auto-aim...I'm speechless.
@novurdim
Really? PSN listing it at $39.99 in NA. Is it on sale in a different market?
The worst is 'predictive reviews.'
Insane trash like "I saw the trailer and I was bored out of my mind, I wouldn't spend a cent buying this game! 1/10"
It's like they don't even have shame about reviewing a game they admit to not having even tried.
Mindblowing.
I know, me too...but so much backlog, will wait for sale.
Yeah but I file this under Microsoft talking when they shouldn't.
This whole console gen they have been taking the bait and responding to criticisms (which they have no defense for) and as a result they look bad.
They should just keep focusing on the positive. Have you seen the Sunset Overdrive bundle? Some of the deals are just getting insanely good (like Overdrive bundle with Destiny and MS store credit for $39, just insane value). MCC is around the cor...
People are *so* aggressive about this game. No reason to get worked up. Buy it if you think you'll like it, don't buy it if you don't think you'll like it.
It's like people take this stuff personally. These are products, man. Do you go around the grocery store screaming "I'm not buying that bread! I HATE flax seeds!" No, you just pick up something you *do* like and don't give it a second thought.
I'm relieved, actually.
I can enjoy very long games, but with my backlog, it's good to know that I can control the length of this experience with side quests.
If I love it, great, can put tons of time in. If it's fun but I want to play other stuff I can get to the point and move on.
Review copies were sent out yesterday for this game. Clearly Bungie/Activision were worried about reviewers rushing to be first and putting out reviews based on underpopulated servers.
IMO the content of the review isn't as much of an issue as the timing. There is no way that a game like this can be played and reviewed in half a day.
Even ignoring the online elements, there are other considerations. For example: the game is repetitive. Well yes, most shoo...
Yep, well said. Promising magic from a server farm, is pushing things beyond their current reality. That said, having a strong infrastructure is a good thing, and no one mocks that, to my knowledge.
