Why wait years for a game only to spoil it for yourself? The whole point of RPGs is you make progress in your stats and wealth, the reward comes from improving.
There’s no 10/10 from IGN usa. But it’s still a 10/10 from IGN Japan et al. In this way, if there is a reporter that decides to go rogue, like has happened here, and given their opinion there will still be multiple other IGN websites that will have got the memo and can cancel out the score and maintain the long term sponsorship with its leading partner that is also a leading partner of the Verge..
I don’t normally hold much stock in individual reviews anymore, but i looked at the Starfield reviews as a collective to see which way the wind is blowing and was surprised to see some lower marks - this PC Gamer review and the IGN review make clear the main criticism: The lack of a unified space travel system which reduces that sense of an open world / open universe.
@TheGamer it’s a Bethesda RPG in space.
The article is listed twice on the N4G homepage adjacent to each other.
I don't think this planet-subsection system will detract from the overall quality of Starfield and I am still very much looking forward to it!
However, when the story is about landing on different planets and flying off to new ones then it makes sense for the gameplay to allow you to do this too. In No Man's Sky you can get in your ship and fly AROUND a planet, or fly off out of its atmosphere which all aids in that sense of freedom.

It's likely that the people who have donated to Star Citizen will have some overlapping interest in Starfield.
@sarahnade. The headline is a bit of fun but I completely understand the sentiment.
Good Guy Phil - he’s talking at an Xbox event yet is praising a PS5 exclusive.
“games that are streamed through PlayStation Plus Premium’s cloud streaming, are not supported.”
Why? that, seems like a natural fit. Surely if the PlayStation Portal could stream PS Plus games it would make it more appealing to people who have a subscription but not a PS console - but maybe that number is few.
If the quality of image and gameplay is high then this could appeal to people who want to play full PlayStation 5 games in their bed - including m...
@anast "Fallout 76 had a live action trailer too. Why aren't they showing gameplay trailers?"
A live action trailer before launch is to communicate the feel of the game to a broad audience.
A live action trailer, or CGI trailer could be concerning at the reveal of a game as happened with Redfall - but in the case of Starfield a whole bloody 45 minute Starfield direct was shown with gameplay!
@darthv72. I definitely wasn’t saying Microsoft shouldn’t do it, just observing the change in approach. If these skins go on and off without any hassle then that’s the peel and stick problem solved.
As for the themed startup sounds what if that was changeable- and Microsoft sold alternative sounds on the Xbox store? ‘New Starfield skin coming get the statutory SFX of thrusters blazing free - or buy the suit of Starfield sounds free for just $9.99!’
Microsoft for this and the last generation has a tradition of making special edition consoles. There was a dedicated Xbox Series X Halo Infinite special edition console and the Xbox One had several special edition consoles including the Cyberpunk 2077 model. So this Starfield skin only being announced three weeks from the launch of the game makes me think this was a recent idea that possibly was inspired in reaction to the Spider-Man 2 plates for PS5 which are available to all current PS5 own...
@raWfodog 🤫 !
‘Echoes’? That sounds like a codename for repeat or mimic. The update will probably have a tonne of features copied from the Starfield Showcase trailer…
I once had an interaction with Jez Corden on Twitter, he was rude, arrogant and obnoxious for no good reason other than disagreeing with me. Not a mature man, a fanboy in a job. So it does give me some delight to see how much the issue of the unofficial PS5 exclusive pains him!
On the issue, whilst it may seem the easy thing for Microsoft to do is allow the Baldur’s Gate 3 release on Xbox Series X - it must not or face dire consequences. Because when it first marketed the S...
I watched a bit of the Defining Dukes podcast where MrMattyPlays and Lord Cognito were laughing at people who were calling Baldur’s Gate 3 a PS5 exclusive! People splitting hairs. Yes, we know there is no exclusivity agreement, but because of Microsoft’s aforementioned parity rules the game will be launching as a console exclusive on PS5. Good drama for all the extremists fighting wars on X Twitter.

The gameplay was bland and extremely frustrating at times with unnecessary QTE combat at points. But the world and the lore and the characters and the story were fantastic. I’ve always wanted a sequel. I still hope Sony will surprise us one day.
What a lazy, terrible news story by Videogamer.com. I find it hard to believe that the N4G readership have been so interested in reading it that it is now a headline story.
