You don't seem to understand how this site even works. The hotness rating is for clicks and nothing more. This is just a firmware update, so everyone naturally wants to see what's new. But at the same time, it's not all that interesting, so not that make people are gonna comment.
@Vokun what? My launch DS3 still lasts for days and days on end. My DS4, however, drops a battery bar in the few minutes it takes me to drop a duece in the bathroom
(And that's with the light bar disconnected and vibration turned off)

You are probably right about forward compatibility. What does anyone think the point of the PS4 Pro was? It was to get the devs used to developing for a wider range of specs. I haven't heard much about that issue so disregard if this is irrelevant, but the ds4 won't turn off if you keep moving it, it needs to remain still due to the accelerometers and whatnot inside the ds4. Mine will stay on for hours if I leave the ds4 next to me on the couch, because I keep moving the cushions when i get up. Same with the ds3. Add Demon's Souls and Dark Souls to the list. Crazy frustrating knowing they are gone if the system bricks. And I am not willing to pay $50 when I should be allowed to protect those saves for free.
The PS3 already does that. While downloading, go all the way to the left of the XMB and hit the Power Off button at the top, it will ask you if you want it to stay on until the download is done.
I'm not disappointed, because I gave up hope of any decent new firmware updates long ago, so this isn't anything to write home about, but its better than no update.

But wouldn't you guys prefer more of these announcements to actually wait UNTIL E3? They revealed almost every new game before E3 last year and it made the show itself very anti-climactic for me. I don't get why Sony likes to reveal so much of their hand so early, especially when they would own E3 completely if they just waited and announced all the awesomeness at once at the show...

@Spurg, if none of their first parties are ready, why have an event at all a few days ago? People are acting like they *had* to show something the other day, when in fact it would've been in their best interest to show nothing at all until the time is right. The time was definitely not right a few days ago, and they can't take back the bad first impressions they gave everyone.
