As good as it was, it probably didn't sell enough to justify another major release. If something isn't a mega hit then this is most likely what its future is. Games are simply too expensive to make and not many companies if any can afford a game to under sell.
I know there have been some signs of this releasing this year but I still can't see it happening. It just hasn't had the marketing I think this kind of game would get if it was releasing this year.
The future of the industry is in the gamers' hands as what they support will be where companies take their business. If gamers are going to spend millions on mobile games and microtransactions then that's where things will go...unfortunately.
if they keep this up people will be writing essays on how to run a business into the ground with them as a prime example.
Their fan base that doesn't hold them to any standards.
A good way to get through such issues is to look at sites like metacritic that take into account nearly all reviews which can give you a better picture of a game. If nearly every review says a game is good or bad then surely there's some truth to it.
Games are expensive and there are usually multiple releases within the same time so reviews are always going to play a role in deciding which game is worth 60$ and which is worth picking over others.
I'm also getting into the franchise for the first time through 3 but from what I understand long time players have a hard time following things so we won't be the only ones confused while playing it.
We knew it would be a mess to a degree but I don't think anyone, even the most critical people of Bethesda could've predicted it would be as bad as it was. Bethesda clearly (and based on leaks) didn't even try. I guess it's a result of the passes they got in the past. Once you start letting people (or companies) get away with something, they're just going to get worse and try to get away with more. Had Bethesda been held up to some standard in the past they would never hav...
Its release date didn't help as it was mixed in with some big games which themselves had a bit of trouble financially. The fall season is just too crowded for this kind of game. With how good this Hitman game is I hope it did enough to justify a 3rd one but with how expensive games are to make now it seems like everything has to be a massive hit or it won't survive.
When you look at all the companies going down that road it doesn't leave much for us. It will be very interesting to see where things go within the next 2-3 years as the way they're doing things doesn't seem sustainable.
I think there's a slight chance Ghost of Tsushima could be Sony's main 2019 fall game.
Ps4 owners have a lot to look forward to from 1st and 3rd party games to announcements regarding new and upcoming games. I just hope they don't show too much from the last of us 2 as I'd like to play it knowing as little as possible. One more gameplay trailer that shows some new features and a sligh glimps into the story will be more than enough. I know marketing is important but in some cases such as this, less is more.
Hopefully this'll result in a new game and a new crash game as that trilogy also sold well.
Unlke other games you already get a complete game and then some in the base version so just go ahead and get it, you'll have more than enough to keep you busy.
From what I've read this guy is pretty much for anything anti-consumer so this isn't surprising. He should do something productive instead of attacking people for expecting more out of their games.
That's what happens when you go too long being anti-consumer. No matter how good of a reputation a company has, doing this long enough will eventually catch up with them.
They were probably just xbox only owners.
That would be...That would be hard to watch. With everyone expecting him to die I really hope they surprise us with something else.
This is the price we have to pay for the advances made in tech as games are now very, very expensive to make so no company can afford mistakes. Isolation probably didn't sell well enough to justify a major sequel and this will continue into the next generation. As games keep costing more to make, less will turn into franchises as companies can't afford just good sales, they need massive success and if that can't be done then games will simply be moved to phones.
