give Obsessive players a reason to buy games. a non-essential measuring stick of their hobby.
microsoft knows it, sony noticed and acted on it.
nintendo is too slow and perhaps even unable to produce a similar option due to hardware limits.

1) was doing naughty stuff on cam on an uno game
2) one got into a racist tirade dropping the n-bomb like no business
3) apparently cursing out an 11 year old on xbox live is a no-no
360 movie service is (maybe was, it was like 6 months ago i saw the article) the 2nd most popular movie download service.
but i kinda wish they would stop the whole movie/tv thing and concentrate on the gaming session more.
in 2007 they concentrated on the gaming part and had a great year, but now with the viacom deal and pushing the whole download service, they have gotten lazy
maybe its just holiday hiccups from so many lonely people logging on during christmas break.
xbox live has had a near spotless run in the 5 years its been on. it goes spiffy 1-2 days out of the year is no biggie on me. stuff happens.
i'd rather have consistent service (not to say it isnt liable to go down, but i can count on one hand how many days something went wrong) than worry about my system not being able to log online after an update (oh that was horrible)...

update the game so its hosted peer-to-peer like every other game on 360 and make it free.
that way, as long as there are 2 people playing, pso can technically go on forever (or until xbox live goes down permanently)
but then again, maybe this is a strategy by sega to try to entice players to get PSU, ala PS3 40 gig non-bc forcing ps3 players to start buying ps3 games.

this is a move against the agreement you make when you use a console online.
sony, nintendo, microsoft ALL have the right to ban your console from online for something like this.
