Aside from obvious whiners, once again, many people have a point. It's NOT the score. It's WHY the review is the way it is. Nitpicking and a lack of consistency PLAGUE many outlets.
It's disheartening to see an outlet give a game a low score because it "lacks originality" despite being a totally great/refined experience. Then to see that very reason tossed out the window two months later in another review and watch as a separate game gets a free pass on being unorigina...

On top? Who cares, I don't work for Sony. I just bought 3 new games in ONE month for it, with a 4th coming shortly (Ratchet).
If this is what "third place" is, Sony can stay there as long as they want, because the great games just keep on coming.

a) ignores the "originality" factor entirely
b) claims something or some small feature is original, when it isn't
c) says it doesn't need to be original because it's so "refined"

Again, it's not the 9.3. It's WHY this was given a 9.3, and WHY they felt the need to "defend" said review, which is something rarely done.
I want to see if GT holds up to the claim of "originality," because I already know they will not.
The industry is not being paid off by one side or another - Actually they are. MS gave out $800 swag bags to people reviewing Halo 3. Konami flew people out to Europe to play MGS4 in style while on vacation. If you think money, politics, and marketing has nothing to do with review scores, you should do a little searching.
And yes, you are right, people should ignore crap like this. Sadly, review sites for SOME reason still hold far too much sway. For me, I'd love to see a develop...
UC2 new MP mode, new coop experience.
Gears 2 and Forza are not bad games by any means. But if you are going to harp the "originality" angle, be consistent with it. Of course, then they pull out the "everything is so refined that it doesn't need to be original" angle when it suits their whims.
I wish gamers, not fanboys, GAMERS... would come together and just shut out these review sites already.
Again, it's not the SCORE that's the problem, it's the BS lack of consistency. Morgan actually said it best, the fact that they even needed to "defend" their review speaks volumes.
1) Scores mean nothing, and are arbitrary.
2) A review is an opinion.
3) It's funny to see the media hide behind the whole "originality" schtick still, but ONLY when it suits their opinion. (The nail in the coffin for me was a tie between "too much variety" and Gears 2's totally broken online not harming its scores one bit).
Don't let it get to you guys, UC2 is amazing is because it's amazing, not because of what score some random person gives it. ...
