But you are omitting the part where The Order is a huge Gears rip off and likely wouldn't exist if it wasn't for Gears coming out 8 1/2 years ago.

Uncharted and especially The Order borrow elements from Gears, but in the Sony fan's mind, MS is capable of Time Travel and it happened the other way around.

If we didn't have every dev announcing resolutions and digital foundry nitpicking everything nobody would have any idea there is even a difference in most of these games.
The difference is that everything that Sony does gets praised and everything that MS does gets ridiculed.
If MS announced a big presence at TGS then everyone would say they are just throwing their money away because Japan doesn't want Xbox and blah, blah, blah.
My point is just that there is no way for MS to win in the minds of these Sony fanboys. Everything they do is always wrong, and everything Sony does is always right.
Sony skips Gamescom and people think it is a good strategic move for some reason.

Lost Odyssey was really good, and that is coming from a guy that basically got sick of and quit playing JRPG's 15 years ago.

Um, jmc8888, I think you missed the point about his split screen comparison.
People were complaining about no split screen because they like a social gaming experience in the same room.
Two people with VR headsets strapped to their heads that are completely cut off from the real world might as well be playing online because they won't be interacting with each other anyway.

That said, a lot of people, myself included, would rather play on Xbox because of the controller, UI, achievements, etc, etc, and just plain don't care about a small difference in resolution...

Look at them side by side during a firefight. They look like practically the same game.
So Gears wasn't the first game that had a cover system, (honestly can't think of one that did it before, but if you say so), but it the one that made it THE thing that every TPS had to have. A ton of games followed Gears' lead in that respect, but if you want to keep denying that, then fine.
