Hey i'll be honest I was disappointed to hear Jim dismiss BC, I have hundreds of PS3 and PS2 and PS1 games. (I also have working consoles so i can play them as needed.) But I would certainly be happy if PS4 had BC. One of the reason I will always say that PC is actually the best platform is due to the fact it has unlimited BC all the way back to text based dos games. (though it seems like Microsoft is trying to push away from that with UWP and disabling securom in Windows 10)

I'm not saying if backwards compatibility is a good feature or not. I just notice that no one seemed to do the math that those 508 million hours do in fact represent about 1.5% if the 1 billion hours played in January (and some of the other usage claims) that Microsoft bragged about are also true when mathed out since launch.
So while 508 million hours is a big number in the bigger picture what Jim Ryan and the previous 1.5% article said are in fact accurate.

Looks cool, I'll take anything that's similar to Persona. Hopefully it comes west.
Microsoft made the call they could have chose many things but they chose to cancel it.
You choose to defend Microsoft who has a history of bad relations with game studios and being too demanding and stifling creative freedom. I choose to defend Platinum who before this indecent has never had any reported problems working with anyone and they have made games published by a lot of different publishers from both the west and the east.
Ni No Kuni will be coming to Steam, I think it's important to be clear about how it's coming to PC. It's not going to be on Windows Store.
Also I don't think the reason has been detailed by anyone from Microsoft or Platinum
Looks really good.
I mean that's great and all but I'm not buying it till they overclock it by 5Mghz like the Xbone!
So uh when did Crackdown, Sea of Thieves and Cup Head get revealed? I guess those don't count since you were playing them years ago... wait I just got a note it seems that after 3-4 years none on these games even has a release date.
@Bigfloppy
I you going to deny that there is difference in the quality and number of games that has been release by the two big parties?
I mean lets be honest here PS4 has basically double the retail exclusives not just this year but throughout the course of this generation.
We're at the midpoint and absolute prime for the generation. We're in the point of the generation where the growing pains of the new generation are over an...
Wow that's neat, Atelier is a series i feel is really under-appreciated. I wonder how an MMO would work. I doubt it'll come west, but it's an interesting idea I'd like to hear more about.
Exclusive games are games, regardless of first party or third. BTW that's only a fraction of the retail exclusive games PS4 has released so far this year. And if you take the time to look you'll see that Sony has an equally big list of games that have release dates later this year or are expected to release later this year.
BTW. Nioh was published by Sony, it's the same as saying Quantum Break which was made by Remedy is a Microsoft game.
Recently Microsoft bragged that Xbox owners gamed 1 billion hours in January alone. If they played 1 billion hours in one month 508 million hours since launch would be less than 1.5%. Just sayin.
What are you talking about with this one step at a time stuff? Were almost 4 years in at this point.
It's a GAMES console, that should have been the main focus from day one. By the time they start steppin towards games at this rate will be in the next gen.
The PS4 is hitting it's game development stride while Xbox is limping along with a number of games per year you can count on one hand. Heck... you can count their retail exclusives so far th...
Well that's good because those last gen games are the only Platinum games you'll be playing on Xbox for the foreseeable future.
Personally I'm glad I got the play the GOTY contender Nier :Automata and whatever Platinum's next big hit will be. I'm hoping it's Bayonetta 3. Man it would be a tough pill to swallow for you if that game was PS4 and Switch only huh? I mean since you're still playing Bayonetta One, right?
Oh well i ...
Well they haven't put micro-transactions in any game yet, in fact I don't even think any of their games have DLC.
Platinum Games is a class act who is about the artistry of gaming not just a company out to nickle and dime.
You realize the last big DQ game to get brought to the west was back in the PS2 days with DQ8. I'd like to think this game will come west but it hasn't been announced yet. The game is huge with lots of dialog localizing it properly will be no inexpensive task. It's not at all unreasonable to think it may not get ported at all.
Skip to 7:20 where they explain it's a full remaster basically from the ground up. It's basically like Ratchet and Clank where it's the same game but totally remade for PS4.
It's not a last gen game anymore.
It's been a while huh? Can't say I'm surprised.
Well given the ad's they have put out thus far I expect a huge Scorpio circle jerk where they try to deflect the lack of games by talking about their peni..... err I mean how powerful the console is.
Well actually I'm sure they have the numbers and they probably don't sell as well as you think or they would prioritize adding them.
And there is often a lot more legal wrangling when it comes to figuring out where the money goes to than you might think especially as time goes on.
