There is more than just Vgchartz there is Gameranx, stattrack, zhugex. All their estimates are pretty close to each other.
If anything you should like Vgchartz since they constantly under-track Sony and over track Microsoft relative to the other tracking firms. Vgcharts has been constantly manipulating numbers to make it seem like PS4 hasn't doubled Xbone sales even though all the other tracking firms said PS4 crossed that line in the middle of 2016.

Why do people always say this. It's not true, plenty of non-Japanese products sell just fine in Japan, Sony makes phones yet the Iphone is the most popular phone there. Well we both know the reason, they wouldn't sell... Tekken sold only 10% on it's units on Xbone, even a huge franchise game like FFXIV only sold 15% of it's units on Xbone. It's just not worth their time.
And after Microsoft canceled Scalebound on Platinum Games why would any Japanese dev want to work with Microsoft?

Well now that NPD has been released it makes sense why Microsoft is doing damage control. PS4 outsold Xbone by 250% last month.
It's because Xbox doesn't have any games they want and Microsoft doesn't seem interested in investing in games especially Japanese games.
