Your analogy doesn't quite work because you're talking more about distance as opposed to speed, but sticking with the same idea, let me explain it this way: The 360 gets on a racetrack and starts doing laps, averaging about 120 miles per hour. Then, people start talking about this new thing that's supposed to be faster and sleeker and how it's going to blow the 360 out of the water. How are the price and games relevant unless they are COMPARED to the price and games on another system? I don't think a lot of people are saying "Hey, COD4 is awesome and an Xbox 360 Premium is $350 so I'm going to buy it" without looking also at the fact that COD4 is on PS3, but costs a minimum $400. OBVIOUSLY, most people ARE comparing the consoles before they buy one/ask their parents to buy one.

It's a perfectly logical argument to "wait and see". The thing is, waiting for the PS3 to get more games doesn't really mean anything in the long run because the 360 will ALSO have more games. Obviously, the entire "console war" is wait and see because what's happening now only tells us the short term. Over the long term, anything can happen - right now is just a snapshot and doesn't determine the state of things even a year from now. You never know until it happens.
Of course people's feelings didn't count as actual numbers against the 360. I think you're missing the point. People didn't want to end up with the "wrong" console, so they waited for all consoles to come out before deciding which was the best for them. I'm saying people were hesitant to buy a 360 because the PS3 and Wii were coming in the next year. That's obviously not the case now and CAN'T be said as a reason why the PS3 sales are what they are.

The original Official Playstation magazine I believe was Ziff Davis, this one is Future. They weren't both published by the same company.

The only magazine that I actually LIKE anymore is Game Informer, only because they, through some miracle (and probably a lot of cash), seem to get exclusives in their magazines before I ever even hear of them on the interwebs. How they can land stories like that so consistently, the world may never know... And they have big, pretty pictures. I also get OXM for the disc, and I get Play mainly for the anime.

Yes, originally, there was the Official US Playstation Magazine, which came with a disc, and PSM, which was "independent". Probably a year ago, OPM stop publishing, and now PSM is becoming the "official" Playstation magazine. There is only one magazine... and there is no spoon.

I agree with a lot of what you said. The 360 is like a Ferrari with a gas leak. It's looks pretty, drives fast, has great handling, but then it randomly leaves you stranded on the highway. The PS3 is a similar Ferrari, but it mainly only drives me to the movies. Some people like fat chicks, some like asian chicks - it's all about personal preference. While most of the fanboys ARE probably only 12, the fact that they're growing up with the ability to voice their opinions with no repercuss...
