I don't disagree that the companies report different things. Personally, I think all companies report sold to retail, not sold to consumers, and THEY ARE DIFFERENT THINGS. I don't think the big 3 necessarily know how many consoles the local Gamestop sold until that Gamestop orders more units. Oh, take your pick of any of the conspiracy theories out there. I'm curious to see the holiday sales for the Wii. If the Wii is always sold out and always sells about 500,000+ consoles per month, will it only sell 500,000 to 1 million consoles over the holiday? If it sells more, then that's proof they've been purposely holding back. And before anyone says "well they just ramped up the production", why on earth haven't they already done that if the system is constantly sold out? ...
It's not really the originator on two fronts:
1) The developer (Harmonix) made GH1 and 2, but DIDN'T make 3. Harmonix split off and made Rock Band.
2) Guitar Freaks has been around in Asian arcades for quite some time. I played it and a drum game in 2001 (SIX YEARS AGO!!!) in South Korea, well before Guitar Hero came out. Harmonix basically just brought the idea to home consoles.

Good point. Regardless of WHY GH3 sold better on the Wii, it's still a dumb move to not bring Rock Band to the Wii also.
Yeah. The thing I find most humorous is that even though the Wii version of GH3 sold more than 360 and PS3, they're not making Rock Band for the Wii. Of course, maybe that's WHY the Wii version sold more because some people are opting for Rock Band instead. Who knows...

Who cares? It's going to be free, isn't it? I'm pretty sure that's how they sneak their advertising into your face - a free game. Even if it sucks, is still free. They're not sucking money away from us.

I think it's going to be Mass Effect or Assassin's Creed for Game of the Year. What is everyone else's thoughts for GOTY?
Personally, I think GOTY is going to be between this and Mass Effect. They are the only two games I'm excited enough about that I'm buying them on day one. Usually I wait a few weeks to snatch them on the cheap online, or just rent them, but these two have stolen my lunch money for sure.

I agree that retailers like Gamestop are ripping people off with the whole used game bit, but it's not their fault but the fault of the idiots that support that practice. I'm actually very much NOT looking forward to digital distribution because there would be no competition, and no competition would equal you paying whatever price they decide to charge. Well, I don't think a publisher like EA of all companies is going to let a huge game like this NOT come out on the PS3 and 360. On a side note, wasn't this confirmed on Friday? I could have sworn I read this a few days ago.
I mostly agree with this. There are some games that I just can't wait to play and firmly believe it's worth the extra money to play it right away, but that's pretty rare - like two to three games a year. Most of the time I look for good deals on eBay. I got The Darkness for $37 brand new only 2 weeks after it released.

That's essentially what GamezNFlix is, games and movies. It's pretty cheap, but the turnaround for games totally blows. I had blockbuster online and Gamefly, and I was hoping I could just use this and cancel the other two, but like I said - it blows. Now I'm back with Gamefly and still with blockbuster online. You could try it; maybe it will work better for you.
