You would think that there has to be some game I would find myself defending and saying "Nuh-uh! Yahtzee is totally wrong!" about, but it hasn't happened yet. It certainly wouldn't have been this one, but still. This man is a genius.
^^^ Incorrect sir. IGN blows. Surprisingly, the U.S. reviewers always complain about stupid stuff or even gripe about stuff that doesn't exist (like no camera control in Overlord when there IS camera control in Overlord). I trust IGN AU a lot more, and I would never read IGN's reviews if it wasn't for them.
Plus, 20 bucks for "Insider" so you can see comparison videos and exclusive articles? Please, get over yourselves. Anyone with an "Insider" membersh...
I don't know, I think the whole "perfect 10" thing is getting out of hand. A movie that gets four stars or "Two thumbs up" from Ebert and Roeper are not "perfect" even though they got the highest score possible. It's not fair to say that the best game ever created can only be a 9.9 because no game will ever be perfect. It's just not right to hold games to an impossible standard that will never be reached. Any game rated between 9 and 10 is just basically givi...
Too bad you put your foot in your mouth, idiot. Mass Effect is NOT first-person. If you knew anything at all, saw any pictures or videos of gameplay, you should at least know that. So by your definition, Mass Effect DOES deserve to be a "greatest game ever" because it's not first-person.
Edit: Oh, I'm sorry Mr. Too-Long-Name. What exactly was the point of your post? Here I thought you were trying to make a point, but apparently you were just typing for no reaso...
Ummm, if ANYBODY should be considered the "kings of the industry" it would be Nintendo. They've been in the market twice as long as Sony. You thinking that Sony is the king only proves that you are just a kid with no real perspective.
That's not true. They've only given out 6 perfect 10's so far-
Bioshock
COD4
Fight Night Round 3 (didn't deserve it)
Gears of War
Halo 3 (didn't deserve it)
Mass Effect
They called Forza 2 the best racer on 360 and then ended up only giving it an 8.5, and one of the exclusives that everybody thought was so great (for some reason) was Lost Planet, and that only got an 8.
Personally, I'm guessing Mass Effect will be GOTY, at least my GOTY. I'm not gonna say which game I think really deserves it, though, until I play them all. Either way, I do agree with you as far as Assassin's Creed being a GOTY contender - I think it's going to be an awesome game.
The "power weapon pop up" is no different than any other menu system that accompanies pretty much every other RPG in existence. There are quick slots, and you CAN play this game without using that menu, if you should feel so inclined. If it bothers you and you just don't care about all of the special skills you can use, just play it like a shooter and miss out on half the fun. It won't bother me if you don't understand and appreciate what makes RPG's so great.
Well, there's got to be some game that you consider to be the best game you've ever played, and if it so happens to be a game that is just now coming out, why is that so unbelievable?
Edit @segasage: You may be onto something there, ha ha ha! I try to just let people have their opinions, no matter how off-base they are, but some people just can't seem to avoid being a douche.
Can't say I'm surprised. This definitely deserves the highest score possible. I expected this game to be awesome, and now I just feel like throwing some "I told you so's" in all the naysayers' faces. What a great time to be a gamer!
I'm not going to tell you to buy it or don't buy it, but I greatly enjoy my 360. The next Xbox will NOT come out in 2009, so take that out of the equation and then think about whether or not you really want to play those games. I mean, if you have "a lot of money" like you say you do, then why not?
That's what renting is for. Snatch it up from Blockbuster for 8 bucks and beat it in a week. Experience the game without waiting or paying for it. If it ends up being super awesome and exceeds your expectations, buy it off of eBay for cheap. The only games I'm buying for the rest of this year at full price are Mass Effect and Rock Band, which conveniently come out on the same day.
It's strange that after 27 comments, this thing still didn't hit 100 degrees.
Yes, I also hate EA. Twizlex, you are the awesomest person in the world!
Yeah, and the fine print at the end where he says he sometimes names Link "I Say" because it makes everyone in the game talk like Foghorn Leghorn.
For some strange reason, hearing some random guy's experience with the game actually makes me think it could possibly be even better than I was already expecting it to be. I've already pre-ordered my Limited Edition, but now I almost want to pre-order it again! The very idea of the awesomeness that is Mass Effect makes my wang hard.
Wow, I feel the complete opposite of this guy. Leading up to the last tiers, I kept thinking to myself "Why are 90% of these songs from the early 80's and back through the 70's and 60's?" It's strange that the seventh tier is ALL post-2000 songs. Why couldn't they mix it up a bit more? I must say that I didn't enjoy this game nearly as much as I did Guitar Hero II. I don't think Neversoft quite has the magic that Harmonix has for music games. Now we just have to see how well R...
My point is that 99% of MMO's are PC-only, and don't offer a demo. So if you THINK you might like it, it's $40-$60 to buy it in the first place, and then if you like it, it's $15+ a month to continue playing it. You really have to do a lot of research and risk-taking to find out if the game would even be fun enough to play for months on end, and in my experience, none of them have been. MMO's start to feel like an obligation, like a job, and that makes them not fun. So, a game that isn't ...
My brother plays it. He quit for like 2 years because SOE totally f*cked the game up and made all kinds of stupid changes. Then they slowly began changing things back to the way they were, and now it's somewhere between absolutely horrible and whatever he thought it was in the first place.
Personally, I never was interested in it, but my brother talks about it enough. Really, though, MMO's aren't worth the money in my opinion.
It's deceptively worded. He's talking about how they haven't begun working on the whole "mods" thing for 360 because they are still trying to work out with Microsoft how it could be done. The game, sans the mods part, is just as far along as the PS3 version, or it was a month ago. He's saying they have stopped work on the 360 and won't start up again until 2008 when the PS3 version is done.
Mark Rein also said "We are going to release UT3 on Xbox 360 in 2008...
