Not a very deep review - didn't even mention FRAGO's or Skill Trees, didn't explain the chain of command or anything. Weak review by an 8 year old.
He says in its current state it is great. When he played the unfinished game a year ago it was a mess.
If your Squad Leader is constantly updating objectives - the game flows pretty good and you know exactly what you are supposed to do. I think the experience is better obviously if everyone has a mic - like every other FPS in existence.

once you buy them they are available in game at no game money cost...they are unlocked and ready to rock.
the game is basically a co-op RTS where the squad leaders, platoon leaders and OIC are moving troops and managing objectives with real FPS players. It is a lot less about the 1v1 shooting of enemies and more about the 8 man squad objective. Your thrills should come from finally taking down that darn Turret/Bunker or bringing the AAA batteries online to push back the forward spawn because your squad finally came up with a winning plan and executed it.

Because you can put any 3rd party HD in the thing you want (cheaply and easily)....if an install gives me improved performance, ease of use, more content etc. I'll take it.

A lot of PS3 owners have mics after buying Warhawk (crappy mic) and SOCOM bundles. I have a full friends list all with mics. The team oriented, tactics driven community definitely has mics and that's who this game is catering to. I played 3 phases of the beta and a lot of players were using the mic - and using it properly instead of cursing and playing crappy rap music over it or whatever.

MAG is a very deep game. It really doesn't cater to casual gamers very much. It is niche in that it is for players who value team work, objectives and communication. This game doesn't have classes. It has load outs that you can create. If I want I could have a sniper, with good parachuting skills who carries an RPG and carries a repair kit. MAG is amazing. It doesn't have the "shine" and "sex appeal" of some of those other games. But the Domination game mode with 256 players and all the strategy and objectives and just utter chaos is so addictive. The game is complex and deep and allows for some interesting tactics - being a squad leader is amazing as well. Combine the most intense FPS experience with some RTS elements as a squad / platoon / OIC leader and the game becomes even more addictive and crazy.
It wasn't "bone headed" or anything - honest mistake....who can keep up with all these devs and games etc. ! I actually don't hate SC as much as a lot of people do - but I never played a SOCOM game before so I guess I have nothing to measure it against. I still have fun playing it.
The stops and starts for installs with games like MGS4.
