Because they probably loved hacking the PSP.. Didn't that make a killing at least hardware-wise?
Since you consider it dead already, might as well zombie-fy it with the attraction of hacks xD.. to play emus, homebrews and PSPISOs on that decent 5 inch oled.
Personally I think the security it has right now is better in the long run.

I played some Doom 3 on the PC several years back.. and was hearing a lot about the PS3 during it's early days..
Went to play to my friend's house with Resistance and I was so underwhelmed by the visuals.
All I can say is Nintendo sucks with graphics most of the time but they sure know how to attract people with their whole Nintendo experience.

I don't completely get it though. I find most of their exclusives kiddy-ish.. but that's because I'm shallow.
Put UMD backwards compatibility on the VITA and I would care less for its hacking. (There's already a form of CFW that allows you to play PSP ISOs on it).
GTA IV was my first gta exp.. it was pretty boring after 10 hours in.
Not to mention the optimization sucked at that time. (several years back)
A full fledged VITA game like Dissidia, FFCC, Kingdom Hearts..

Let me guess.. you aren't a real gamer if you mostly play Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, Pokemon and some other cutesy stuff.
Probably considers a real gamer if you heavily spend time playing as a "gay space marine" (google it).
VITA games.. games that are hard to merit as portables.
I can only blame Sony's marketing for touting it too much as a PS3 on the go.
If a few remember that it still is a portable device, then they wouldn't have a hard time agreeing with you.
IMO, even ACL is revolutional for a handheld.. but it's bashed quite a bit when compared to the bigger brothers

BS.. Rather put that budget into a decent increase in clockspeed of the cpu/gpu or a higher tier GPU (imagine 7850 to 7870)..
Ram speed is really only effective for those GPU chipsets that don't have discrete VRAM.
Barely any FPS/performance difference with a 1066Mhz Ram on the same setup than with a 1866Mhz.. and where not even talking about RAM timings yet!
Will only recommend faster RAM if the price difference is almost non existent. ...
