I would be really excited to see shifting and accel/braking on Kinect for F4. It won't happen (people would "miss" virtual controls too much for accel/brake, but shifting is possible, I suppose), but it'd be a LOT better than having a Kinect wheel.

Anyone who has played Forza with the "Kinect Wheel" knows what I'm talking about.

SMOK3xFFx, you should put each individual 360 NXE panel that XBL provides on a different line, to make it look better. Also, be sure to include stuff that PSN provides, but under a different name.

Make sure you include all the ads and other crap as "features you pay for", too.

Oh wait... you did it already. Nice work.

Wow. So the 360 version only gets to use 2 CPU cores instead of 3? I'm definately getting the PS3 version now.

This may not be a good statistic for hardcore 360 fans. It demonstrates that a large, maybe even a majority, of Kinect purchases are going to new XBox 360 owners -- i.e. people who weren't interested in the 360 offering until Kinect.

That's bad news for hardcore 360 gamers, because it basically means MS has no motivation to support Kinect outside of casual games. It also kind of implies that Kinect-enabled XBoxes might suffer from "Wii attach rate syndrome"...

LoL @ all the people who think retail is some risk-free business, and that Sony takes the hit when the retailer can't sell the copies they purchased from Sony.

Retail orders what they think they can sell. It is their responsibility to sell what they order (i.e. what they told the publisher to manufacture for them). They know well in advance when the MSRP of an item will drop. Publishers don't operate as some sort of retail insurance policy, so the retail chain will...

When it comes to games, the RSX is the PS3's bottleneck, not the Cell. I doubt a Cell add-on would really be worth doing... for *gaming*.

It's likely that this add-on is for folks who buy PS3s as components in distributed supercomputers instead -- it'd be a good way for Sony to capitalize on that market, since they don't make much profit off PS3's themselves. But they might make a decent amount from a worthwhile add-on...

Um.. They're using some hot PC to do the processing, and probably analysis involving multiple image frames (i.e. lots of memory). In other words way more horsepower than the 360.

Good news for the XBox 720, though. Kinect may have a future...

The mini games are extras, above and beyond the 3 original, HD-remastered games.

Not sure why extras would be something to complain about.

Monster Hunter Tri... you mean that Wii game that has no normal mapping or cool shader work of any sort, maps made of tiny mini-levels with a loading pause every few steps, and no coordinated animations between the hunter and the hunted monsters?

Oh... yeah and the camera is completely manual -- totally under control of the right analog stick. It only rarely gets occluded by foliage, etc... because there isn't any foliage taller than 2 feet off the ground in that game, a...

Raven was once a great dev, with a very close relationship with id Software, whose tech the CoD engine is based on.

I might even go as far to say that Raven is a higher quality dev than Treyarch.. or at least they once were. That said... I kinda thought I heard that Raven had closed its doors, recently?

This article isn't really about MS and Sony, its about Nintendo.

Sony is actually doing quite well, in terms of monthly marketshare, relative to past years in the US. Its the Wii that's failing here, and its interesting to note that, in the US, where the Wii once held the largest marketshare of any region -- more than both of it competitors combined -- its now being outsold by the 360 alone.

@chilled2m:

The US is NOT the single largest consumer electronics consumer PER CAPITA, as you claim. Its the single largest market, on a national basis. Japan, Korea, and many other nations far exceed the US, in terms of per-capita electronics consumption.

I agree with the sentiment that the US is an important market to consider, but your statement isn't helping get that point across..

The biggest reason for BD, in my book: HD remakes. 3 DVDs on one BD, as a compilation. Can't be done on 1 DVD, so only the BD console gets said HD compilations. Prince of Persia trilogy, rumored Splinter Cell trilogy, etc. Any publisher could take advantage of this, by bundling 2-3 last gen titles, remastered in HD, for a tiny fraction of the dev cost, they reap huge returns.

That's a pretty big deal. Particularly if you're a software publisher, and like to i...

The multiqueue idea is a good one -- it should allow them to, effectively, queue players who are actually playing the game, if the game is about to end. In effect, it really increases the size of the queue for the bigger games, since the queueing system can intelligently hold off starting a few smaller games, knowing that another small game will shortly end, and that a big game can begin.

If everyone uses it, it should be extremely fast. Never takes me more than 15 secs to ...

SOftware sales are money, not hardware. The Wii is doing much better, in terms of hardware, than it ever has in software -- be careful of confusing the two, especially now that Wiis are sold with 2 controlls, 2 games, and a nunchuk, and the console itself hasn't dropped much below its original buildcost (hey... its 2002 tech).

That said, the Wii is far from a failure, or dead, or whatever. Still, its not the huge success many people believe it is, either. The article t...

Dark Mirror and Logan's Shadow are SF5 and SF6.

The next SF would be SF7, but I'm sure they won't number them anymore, if there is one.
